HEIM DOMINATES AT LIME ROCK; MCQUEEN SHINES WITH BREAKOUT ROAD COURSE PERFORMANCE

LOGAN MCQUEEN III SCORES CAREER-BEST ROAD COURSE FINISH, SECURING 2ND BEHIND A PERFECT DAY FOR COREY HEIM

Few tracks on the schedule challenge NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers like Lime Rock Park, and entering the weekend, Logan McQueen III made no secret of it: road courses were still his weak spot.

But on Saturday afternoon, the driver of the No. 51 Racing Electronics / Peak Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado delivered the best road course performance of his career, finishing 2nd behind race-winner Corey Heim and collecting a strong haul of 49 points.

McQueen qualified 6th, his highest road course start, improving steadily through the session as he grew more confident with braking zones and exit speed.

Once the green flag dropped, he backed it up with results.

He powered to 5th in Stage 1, adding 6 points, then charged forward in Stage 2, finishing 3rd for 8 more. By the start of the final stage, McQueen was solidly inside the top five and applying pressure to the leaders.

The race became a battle of precision and consistency, ultimately ending under caution when Cody Dennison and Luke Baldwin got together in turn four with the leaders on the last lap.

Heim, however, was flawless, leading every stage and controlling the tempo. McQueen matched the pace as best he could, ultimately bringing home an impressive 2nd-place finish, tying his best non-oval performance and proving he’s no longer vulnerable on road courses.

“This was big for us,” McQueen said. “Road courses have always been tough for me. I’ve been grinding on the sim, working with Alex (Ward), studying data… and this weekend it finally started to click. We still have a lot more room to grow, but runs like this give us confidence. I’m planning on making road course work a priority again this offseason.”

Crew chief Alex Ward echoed that sentiment.
“Logan’s taken massive steps,” Ward said. “He asked for every bit of information we had. Every track map, every throttle trace, every brake reference. Today was him putting all of that together.”

McQueen also earned praise from his competitors, even on social media, where several drivers highlighted his improvement after the flag dropped.

With only three races remaining in the regular season, McQueen tightened his grip on a strong points position, keeping the pressure on Heim as the championship battle intensifies.

They Said It
Logan McQueen III: “This was a huge step for me. Road courses have kicked my butt in the past, but today we finally put together the kind of run I know we’re capable of. Alex and the team gave me an awesome truck. I’m planning on spending a ton of time this offseason working on road racing — I want to turn these into places where we can win.”
Corey Heim: “We were strong all day, but credit to Logan. He’s come a long way on these kinds of tracks. If he keeps improving like that, he’s going to be a problem for all of us.”

NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES RACE RECAP

RIGGS STEALS TSPORT 200 WIN LATE; MCQUEEN DOMINATES BUT LAPPED TRAFFIC CHANGES EVERYTHING
Image
LAYNE RIGGS OUTDUELS LOGAN MCQUEEN III IN THE CLOSING LAPS AFTER A DOMINANT NIGHT FROM THE NO. 51 CHEVROLET

Logan McQueen III came into Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park with one of the fastest trucks he’s ever had, and for most of the TSport 200, he proved it.

The driver of the No. 51 Racing Electronics / Peak Motorsports Chevrolet laid down a blistering lap in qualifying, scoring the pole by more than a tenth. Once the green flag dropped, McQueen backed it up immediately, sweeping both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and pacing the field with authority.

But short-track racing rarely ends quietly.

For nearly the entire race, Layne Riggs matched McQueen’s pace, shadowing the No. 51 through traffic and never letting him pull away. With 10 laps to go, everything changed. McQueen caught a cluster of lapped trucks at the worst possible moment, getting pinned to the bottom lane with nowhere to go. Riggs pounced, diving to the outside, rolling the center perfectly, and taking the lead.

McQueen fought back, but with clean air in hand, Riggs drove away in the closing laps to claim the victory.

While the win slipped away, McQueen still salvaged an impressive runner-up finish, holding off a charging Corey Heim, who stormed from outside the top ten to finish third. The result netted McQueen 49 points, keeping his strong season rolling.

“Just got boxed in behind traffic,” McQueen said. “We were the class of the field today, but that’s short-track racing. Hats off to Layne, he ran me clean all night. We’ll get another shot.”

For Riggs it's his first win of the season and moves him into fourth in points, up form sixth.

They Said It
Logan McQueen III: “We had the truck to beat. It just came down to traffic, we had nowhere to go, and Layne made the move he needed to. Still proud of our execution. We’ll take the points and keep pushing.”
Layne Riggs: “Logan was fast, no doubt, but our Ford was strong on the long run. When he got caught behind those lappers, we had to capitalize. Hard racing, clean racing, that's the way it should be.”
Corey Heim: “We were buried at the start, but the truck came alive late. Logan and Layne were the class of the field, but I’m proud of the fight.”

HEIM PREVAILS AT THE GLEN; MCQUEEN GOES TOE-TO-TOE WITH THE HEAVY HITTERS
Image
LOGAN MCQUEEN III FIGHTS THROUGH THE FIELD TO SCORE A STRONG TOP-5 IN A STACKED ROAD COURSE BATTLE

Watkins Glen has a way of exposing weaknesses, or revealing strengths.

On Saturday afternoon, Logan McQueen III proved once again that he’s no longer the easy target on road courses. The driver of the No. 51 Racing Electronics / Peak Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado clawed from an 11th-place starting spot to finish 4th, hanging door-to-door all race long with veterans and road course standouts Corey Heim, Ross Chastain, and Kyle Busch.

The Glen brought chaos, pace, and fierce position trading. And McQueen was part of the action from start to finish.

He methodically climbed into the top-10 early, then fought his way to 5th in Stage 1, grabbing six stage points. In Stage 2, he repeated the feat with 5th again, matching speed with Chastain, Busch, and Heim as the leaders sorted themselves out.

Once the final stage began, the front four settled into a fast, surgical rhythm. Heim led the way, Chastain stalked him, Busch held position, and McQueen, who stayed calm, steady, and increasingly confident, kept them all within sight.

The quartet traded laps, draft pulls, and braking duels through the Esses and the Bus Stop, but ultimately the order stabilized late: Heim controlled the pace, Chastain loomed but couldn’t strike, and McQueen held fourth with authority.

“It helps a ton having these two road courses basically back-to-back,” McQueen said. “Everything we learned at Lime Rock rolled right into this weekend. Braking feel, throttle timing, setup feedback, it all carries over. We’re still building, but I’m getting more comfortable racing guys like Heim, Chastain and Busch here. That’s huge for me.”

McQueen collected 45 points, continuing his mid-season surge and keeping pressure on the championship contenders as the playoffs approach.

Heim, now tied with McQueen with six wins each, takes back the top spot in the season standings.
