To infinity and beyond; surprise Titans not satisfied with just the playoffs
To any reasonable fan or observer of the Tennessee Titans, the 2026 season has already been a success as the Titans ended their four-year playoff drought and will be back in the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Cam Ward isn't a reasonable man.

"I don't think anyone [on the team] feels like we've accomplished anything," Ward said, "We've played a lot of good football just to get here which is where we want to be. We're not done yet so the work is really just starting and we have to continue playing like we have something to prove and something to achieve because the truth is, we do."

The Titans travel to Cleveland for the regular season finale with the chance to put a dagger in the Browns season as well as lock up the top seed in the AFC and secure a bye. Here are some other things at play in week eighteen

Cam Ward, Mark Fletcher on the brink of some individual milestones
Ward needs just eighty-eight yards to become the first Tennessee Titan to throw for over 4,000 yards. He already holds the city's record for most passing yards, trailing only Warren Moon (Houston) who had 4,689 and 4,690 yards in 1990 and 1991. He can also eclipse Ryan Tannehill's mark of 33 touchdowns which is the most as a Titan with four touchdowns, a bit of a tall order but certainly feasible.

While Mark Fletcher is nowhere near the likes of Derrick Henry, Chris Johnson and Early Campbell in terms of franchise records, the rookie could become the first Titans running back to rush for over 1,000 yards as a rookie with 41 yards on Sunday. The injury to Jam Miller (more on that later) in the middle of the season certainly opened the door for a breakout season for Fletcher who came into training camp as a potential practice squad candidate due to the depth at the position.

Another ten sack season is on the horizon for Jeffery Simmons who needs one more sack to make it back-to-back seasons over ten sacks after never having more than eight prior to last year where he had a whopping 19.5 sacks.

Rueben Bain Jr. is also on the door for ten sacks with 8.5 on the season and one of the candidates for Defensive Rookie of the Year although T.J. Parker (81 tackles, 15 TFL, 10 sacks) is the current favorite.

Some growing trends heading into the regular season finale and the playoffs
Speaking of Fletcher and Miller, in Miller's return last week, the Alabama running back had three carries (season low) and played just eighteen snaps although he was involved in the passing game with four receptions and a touchdown.

When Miller was on the field, the Titans certainly made efforts to get him the ball so maybe this is just a ramp up game but the splits between Fletcher and Miller should be interesting to watch. In the last full game that Miller played prior to the injury, he played twenty six snaps and had ten carries. In that same game, Fletcher had four carries and played nineteen snaps. Since then, he's played less than forty snaps just twice and has had at least ten carries in each game since.

Another rookie that has made the most of their opportunities has been linebacker Whit Weeks. Weeks was always part of the rotation behind Zaire Franklin and Nakobe Dean, capable of playing either linebacker spots but was primarily Franklin's backup who doesn't come off the field often. But since the bye week, the Titans have been more willing to play Weeks alongside Franklin and he's recorded his highest snap totals in each of the last three games, including eighty three snaps against Dallas.

Weeks' rise will certainly make Dean an interesting player to watch both in the playoffs as well as this offseason which is certainly the case with Calvin Ridley. Since the Baltimore game, Ridley has yet to catch more than two passes in a game and hasn't scored since week eleven.

He was held without a catch against Dallas but perhaps more concerning, he played just nine snaps. Since Baltimore, Ridley has yet to play over thirty four snaps and he used to regularly log in forty to fifty snaps per game. Instead, Ja'Kobi Lane has taken over as WR1 with the most snaps on the team in the last five weeks and Elic Ayomanor has slid into that WR2 role with at least thirty snaps in each of the last three games after regularly being in the teens prior that and had a breakout 100-yard day against Jacksonville.

The ultimate rooting guide for the regular season finale
The Titans can clinch the top seed with a win but with a loss, they can still get that bye week if Cincinnati losses as the Bengals hold the tie breaker over them.

Beyond that, there's also a couple of matchups to watch. Even with a win over them, the Titans would probably prefer that Baltimore isn't the seventh seed as should the Titans drop to the second seed, they would play them in the wild card with a healthy Lamar Jackson.

Ideally, Baltimore is kept out by losing to Tampa Bay and then Houston, a team that the Titans have beaten, leapfrogs Kansas City with a win over the Chargers and a Chiefs loss to the Seahawks.

If you want to be even more greedy, arguably three of the four best quarterbacks in the conference can be kicked out if on top of that, Buffalo losses to Denver and Miami beats the Jets which would put the Titans in line to play either Houston or Pittsburgh in the first round, who they have already beaten, or get a bye week and play the lowest remaining seed among Houston, Pittsburgh or Denver as oppose to potentially having to play Lamar Jackson in the wild card, Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes in the divisional round and then Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert in the AFC Championship Game.
