Logan “Lightning” McQueen III stole the show at the ARCA Menards Discovery Race at Rochingham

ARCA MENARDS SERIES RACE RECAP: Discovery Race

Logan “Lightning” McQueen III lived up to his nickname in Friday’s ARCA Menards Discovery Race, storming from 30th on the grid to finish eighth, the biggest gain of the day by a wide margin.

After a random draw placed him dead last for the start, the 18-year-old rookie showed poise and patience early before methodically slicing through the field. McQueen’s No. 94 Chevrolet stayed clean while others battled attrition, allowing him to capitalize on long green-flag runs and late-race restarts.

“Starting at the back wasn’t ideal,” McQueen said post-race. “But we just kept our head down, picked our spots, and let the car do the work. I’m proud of what we showed out there.”

John Xander captured the victory in the No. 55 Chevrolet, with Abby King and Peter Quakenbush rounding out the podium. McQueen’s drive from 30th to eighth marked the largest position improvement in the field, a clear statement from a young driver hoping to make his name known on the national stage.

“That kid flat-out wheeled it today,” said crew chief and former ARCA driver Mike Halverson. “You don’t start 30th and finish eighth in this field unless you’ve got real talent and composure. After a drive like that, I’d be shocked if a team doesn’t give him a full-time seat next season.”

Logan McQueen III finishes his debut at Daytona in 34th

ARCA MENARDS SERIES RACE RECAP: Menards 200 at Daytona

The ARCA Menards Series season roared to life under the Florida sun, and it didn’t disappoint. In a thrilling finish at Daytona International Speedway, Lawless Alan edged out Eric Johnson Jr. and Jake Finch by mere hundredths of a second to capture the victory in the Menards 200.

Alan, driving the No. 20 Venturini Motorsports Toyota, led the final lap after a three-wide duel coming off Turn 4. The win marked a strong start to the season for Venturini, who swept multiple top-ten finishes in the event.

Meanwhile, rookie driver Logan “Lightning” McQueen III made his professional debut in the No. 33 Peak Motorsports Chevrolet. Starting deep in the field, McQueen kept his nose clean throughout the chaotic 200-mile contest and crossed the line in 34th. Despite the finish, the young driver showed promise, gaining valuable drafting experience in his first superspeedway event.

“Running with this group at Daytona, it’s something you dream about,” McQueen said after the race. “We didn’t get the finish we wanted, but the car came home in one piece, and we learned a ton. We’ll take that and build from it.”

Veteran journalist Matt Weaver echoed that optimism on social media, writing:

“Logan McQueen III, the driver who earned a seat at the ARCA Discovery Race, just made a solid showing at the season opener. Keep your eyes on this driver. We’re in for something special.”

Just didn’t have any speed for qualifying and the race?

What did you decide for race length?
