‣ Huskies place tag on DE Young, to work on multi-year extension

The Toronto Huskies have placed a franchise tag on defensive end Chase Young, with the cap hit coming in at a hefty $20.2 million.

In an incredibly weak free agency class, Young turned down Toronto's last offer back in November and intends to potentially hit free agency in 2025. According to a source close to the situation, Young's camp is confident that the pass rusher will be able to land "quarterback money".

Young broke the single-season sack record in 2024 with 24 sacks and has 73 sacks in 64 career games, an NFL best.

‣ Huskies interested in WR Jefferson

When free agency begins, the Toronto Huskies are not expected to be a big partaker due to many of their big time players such as QB Trevor Lawrence, DE Chase Young and WRs Chris Godwin and Rondell Moore set to be free agents next season.

A player they will be interested in, however, is receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson's production in New Orleans did not match the hype he had coming out of college but the 25-year old receiver is plenty talented at 6-foot-3 and could be a potential replacement for Miles Boykin should the team move on from Boykin.

the problem is that Chase is due for a big contract so is TLaw not to mention Rondale Moore and then re-signing Godwin next season. I want to be flexible heading into next season and not overspend this year.

Huskies bring back Awuzie, fill other needs in first 48 hours of free agency

The Toronto Huskies have re-signed cornerback Adobe Awuzie to a one year, $15 million contract to keep the pro bowler in Toronto for at least another season. They also re-signed punt Tress Way to a one year, $2.5 million extension.

The Huskies also signed LB Troy Dye to a two-year deal worth $4.24 million while linebacker Telvin Smith's one year deal is worth $3 million. With Reuben Foster headed to Pittsburgh, Smith and Dye will have the opportunity to start alongside Cole Holcomb.

The team also signed, for depth purposes, CB Troy Pride Jr. and quarterback Matthew Stafford to one-year deals. Pride, ironically, is just a few months removed from blocking a field goal against the Huskies in the playoff loss against the Green Bay Packers.

Toronto remains in a bidding war with the Los Angeles Chargers over receiver Justin Jefferson.

Huskies lose WR Jefferson to Chargers, sign another Jefferson

The Toronto Huskies ended up with a Jefferson in free agency, just not the one the fans wanted. The Huskies lost the bidding war for wide receiver Justin Jefferson to the Los Angeles Chargers and instead signed linebacker Malik Jefferson to a one-year deal.

According to reports, Jefferson signed for lesser money to the Chargers in hopes for more playing time and more targets. With an aging Keenan Allen, Jefferson could find himself being showcased as a WR1 at times along with Mie Williams.

Jefferson, prior to 2023, had failed to catch more than 20 passes before his 2023 campaign saw him have a career year with 59 catches for 809 yards and eleven touchdowns.

Huskies trade up in draft, send Isabella to Bears

The Toronto Huskies have traded their 30th overall selection, their fourth round pick and wide receiver Andy Isabella to the Chicago Bears for the 7th overall selection in this year's draft.

Toronto makes this move despite striking out on WR target Justin Jefferson, which will likely keep Miles Boykin in Toronto for the time being.
