10/29/26
Ames, IA (AP) – This was a different Kansas team on Thursday evening, as the Jayhawks blew the doors off of Iowa State up in Ames, 41-13. The Jayhawks pounded the Cyclones from the start, recording their easiest victory on the season.

Kansas got off to a quick start, forcing a punt, and taking over on the Iowa State 42 yard line. Ten plays later, Yasin Willis ran it in from one yard out to put Kansas up 7-0. After another Iowa State punt, the Jayhawks took over at midfield. Seven plays later, Isaiah Marshall ran an option keeper in from 13 yards out and it was quickly 14-0.

After yet another Iowa State punt, the Jayhawks drove 79 yards in ten plays, scoring on a ten yard pass from Isaiah Marshall to Cam Pickett to put Kansas up 21-0. A key play on the drive was a wide reciver screen to Nahzae Cox for 29 yards.

The Cyclones finally got the offense together on the next drive, moving the ball into Kansas territory. But the drive stalled and Kyle Konrardy was called on to boot a 46 yard field goal, getting Iowa State on the scoreboard. The Jayhawks responded with another scoring drive of their own, with Martin Connington kicking a 49 yard field goal to make it 24-3.

Late in the half with Kansas driving again, Carson Willich picked off Isaiah Marshall at midfield. The Cyclones would turn that into another field goal, this time from 37 yards out, cutting the Kansas lead to 24-6. On the final play of the half, the Jayhawks ran a draw that almost turned into a disaster for Iowa State, as Dylan Edwards ran it 43 yards before being pushed out of bounds at the Iowa State 36 yard line.

Kansas played their best half of the season, ougaining the Cyclones 298 to 136 and taking an 18 point lead into halftime.

Iowa State opened the second half moving the ball into Kansas territory, but on fourth and six from the Kansas 42 yard line, Kyle Konrardy missed wide right from 59 yards out.

Late in the third, Kansas put this one away, and once again it was Isaiah Marshall using his legs, stepping up in the pocket and scoring on a six yard keeper to put the Jayhawks up 31-6.

Iowa State would turn the ball over on their own 32 on their next drive with Kevin Oatis falling on a loose ball after a fumble by Delvin Forrest. Kansas turned that into a short 26 yard field goal from Martin Connington to go up 34-6.

Iowa State scored their only touchdown of the game on a wild fourth and 13 pass from Jaylen Raynor to Omari Hayes. The 31 yard strike gave the Cyclones a bit of hope, but that was squashed on the Jayhawks next drive. Kansas drove 87 yards in five plays, all on the ground, with Jalen Dupree running it in from 19 yards out to put the Jayhawks up 41-13.

Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman then put a bow on it as he picked off Jaylen Raynor on the next Iowa State offensive play. Kansas then ran the final 5:21 out, running it nine times to secure the road win.

Kansas improves to (5-3, 4-2) with the win. They outgained Iowa State 512 to 253 in a truly dominating performance. Kansas ran it 46 times for 280 yards and four touchdowns. Isaiah Marshall went 22 of 33 for 232 yards and a touchdown.

The Jayhawks will return home a week from Saturday as they step out of conference, taking on UCF for a noon kickoff. With four games left, the Jayhawks need just one more win to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2023.

Can't complain with a 5-3 record through 2/3 of the season. A lot to build on if you finish strong.

HEARTBREAK!
UCF Holds On For 27-22 Victory in Lawrence

Media Ranks: Kansas 50th; UCF 37th

Defense: Kansas 81, UCF 81
Weather: Cloudy, 49F

11/7/26
Lawrence, KS (AP) – UCF jumped out to 14-0 lead and looked like they would cruise to a victory, but in the end, the Knights held on for a hard fought 27-22 victory over Kansas. Kansas lost despite outgaining the Knights 459 to 281.

UCF quarterback Alonza Barnett III made quite possibly the play of the year, at least in a game involving Kansas. Facing a third and 17 at his own 11 yard line, he ran on option keeper off the right tackle for an 89 yard touchdown to give UCF a 7-0 lead, early in the opening quarter.

Kansas would drive the ball all the way down to the UCF one yard line, facing a fourth and goal. The Jayhawks decided to go for it and Isaiah Marshall's pass intended for Nahzae Cox fell incomplete.

On the Jayhawks next possession, they faced a fourth and two at the UCF 46. Again the Jayhawks went for it, and again, Isaiah Marshall's pass fell incomplete. This time intended for tight end Carson Bruhn. The Knights then drove the 54 yards in nine plays with Duke Watson running it in from two yards out to put UCF up 14-0, and it looked like the game might be getting away from the Jayhawks.

But Kansas did not go away. They drove down to the UCF 25 yard line and kicker Martin Connington booted a 42 yard field goal to get the Jayhawks on the board. After forcing a three-and-out, the Jayhawks drove it down to the UCF 25 again, and Martin Connington kicked a 42 yard field goal to cut the lead to 14-6.

The Jayhawks defense forced another punt late in the half, giving the offense the ball at the UCF 37 with 1:04 left until halftime. Kansas drove the ball down to the five, but Isaiah Marshall took a sack on first down, forcing a third Martin Connington field goal, this one from 30 yards out, and Kansas went to the break down 14-9. Kansas outgained UCF 223 to 129 in the opening half, but had to settle for field goals.

The teams exchanged punts to open the second half, before the Jayhawks put together a nine-play, 65 yard drive with Isaiah Marshall hitting Cam Pickett for a seven yard touchdown to give Kansas their first lead at 15-14. The two point conversion failed, and that would prove to be big.

The Knights responded with a nice drive of their own, stalling at the Kansas 34 yard line. Kicker Will Stone booted a 51 yard field goal to put UCF back on top at 17-15. After a Kansas three-and-out, the Knights again drove the ball deep into Kansas territory, but had to settle for a short field goal. Stone made the kick, but Kansas was called for roughing the kicker, giving UCF a first and goal. On the next play, Duke Watson took it in, so instead of a 20-15 lead, the Knights went up 24-15 early in the fourth quarter. The key play on the drive was a 28 yard completion to Duane Thomas Jr. on third and 19 from the Kansas 39 yard line, that kept the drive alive.

Kansas would have an answer, driving 83 yards in 11 plays with Isaiah Marshall finding Nik McMillan for a three yard score to cut it to 24-22.

Alonza Barnett III then hit maybe his two biggest passes of the game, connecting with Dylan Wade for completions of 20 and 23 yards, moving UCF into field goal range. Will Stone kicked a 43 yard field goal with 5:50 left to put UCF up by five.

Kansas drove the ball to the UCF 11 yard line facing a fourth and one. Isaiah Marshall hit Nik McMillan on a short cross, but Lewis Carter hammered McMillan, knocking the ball free and Kansas turned it over on downs with 1:09 left. The Kansas defense forced a three-and-out, using all three timeouts.

The Jayhawks took over on their own 49 with 47 seconds left. Marshall moved them to the Kansas 30 where they again faced a fourth and one with 10 seconds left. Marshall threw deep for Nik McMillan, but the pass was broken up and UCF held on for the hard fought victory.

Kansas outgained UCF by 178 yards, and lost. UCF's Alonza Barnett III went 18 of 24 for 169 yards, and ran it nine times for 77 yards and a score. Kansas ran it 47 times for 244 yards with Justin Thurman leading the way, running it nine times for 85 yards.

The Jayhawks (5-4, 4-2) will travel to Springfield next Saturday to take on Missouri State (2-7, 1-6), coming off their first ever Big Ten victory. UCF (7-3, 5-2) still has an outside shot at a Sun Belt title, sitting behind Georgia, whom they beat, and Miami.
