Charlotte is expected to hire Mississippi State offensive coordinator Jaleel Mosley as its next head football coach, sources told ESPN. The sides are working toward a deal that is expected to be completed in the near future.

Mosley just wrapped his second season as Mississippi State's offensive coordinator, helping lead the Bulldogs to a College Football Playoff appearance and signature wins over Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas and Ole Miss. Over his four seasons calling plays, first at UL Monroe, then Texas State, then Mississippi State, Mosley's offenses have consistently ranked among the most explosive in the country, including a Pac-12 Championship at Texas State in his first season as a coordinator.

Mosley is replacing Tim Albin, who struggled through a difficult tenure at Charlotte after arriving from Ohio. Charlotte moved into the American Athletic Conference in 2023 and has been looking to establish itself as a consistent winner ever since. The Bobcats finished last season 1-11 and went winless in the AAC, their only win coming in the season opener against Arizona State.

This will be Mosley's first head coaching job.

Van Buren, Mekari Highlight Mosley's Complete 10-Member Position Coach Staff

CHARLOTTE – A number of new additions officially joined head coach Jaleel Mosley's initial coaching staff this week as the final members of the 10-person full-time position coaching staff were announced.

Nick van Buren, who comes to Charlotte following a stint as an offensive analyst at Mississippi State, has been tabbed to serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. On the defensive side, Brian Mekari joins the 49ers as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach after serving as UL Monroe's linebackers coach.

"Nick and Brian are going to be tremendous additions to our coaching staff both on the field and on the recruiting trail," Mosley said. "We've put together a group of coaches who I trust, who know how I want this program run, and who are ready to get to work."
