Warhawks wrap spring drills at Malone Stadium as Vincent turns play-calling over to new OC
Jaleel Mosley brings a pass heavy approach as Bryant Vincent praises growth across the quarterback room and offensive line during spring workouts.

MONROE, La. — Spring football wrapped up at Malone Stadium with ULM fans getting their first extended look at what could be a new-and-improved Warhawks offense.

After calling plays during his first two seasons at ULM, head coach Bryant Vincent has handed play-calling duties to new offensive coordinator Jaleel Mosley, a longtime assistant who spent the past two seasons at Colorado State.

Mosley said the focus this spring has been on installing the fundamentals of an up-tempo, pass-first system while keeping the verbiage simple enough for players to retain under pressure.

"We want to keep the install simple enough that guys can play fast, but we're going to spread you out, we're going to put stress on every defender on the field, and we're going to make you defend the whole width and length of it," Mosley said. "If we do that right, the run game opens up because you can't load the box against us."

Vincent said the offense showed progress through the first 11 practices, even as the unit worked through the typical learning curve that comes with installing a new system.

Vincent also pointed to growth across several position groups, saying he likes where the offensive line stands and what he's seen from the running backs. He added that the quarterback room is stronger than it has been during his tenure.

“We’ve done a lot of really good things. I think we’re maximizing our personnel,” Vincent said. “When you put it in and you’ve got a broad spread at 11 practices, you’re going to have some learning and some growing pains… But we also made a lot of explosive plays.”

Vincent also pointed to growth across several position groups, saying he likes where the offensive line stands and what he’s seen from the running backs. He added that the quarterback room is stronger than it has been during his tenure.

“I think we’ve got a really good quarterback room, the best room we’ve had,” Vincent said. “I really like our receiver group and our tight end group. So it’s been fun to watch us offensively grow each day.”

ULM now turns its attention toward the offseason with the new offensive staff aiming to build on spring progress ahead of the 2026 season.

MONROE — The next football game to be played at Louisiana-Monroe’s Malone Stadium will be on Sept. 13 against Southeastern Louisiana.

The Warhawks’ spring football game took place on Saturday, April 25, and it provided many exciting moments from start to finish. Here are a few takeaways from the game.

ULM's quarterbacks all brought something to the table
One of the Warhawks’ biggest focal points heading into the 2026 season is their quarterback competition.

Aidan Armenta, who has been at ULM since 2024, is heading into his redshirt junior season and has also developed under coach Bryant Vincent during their time at New Mexico. Austin Carlisle is a Houston transfer who played in five games last season for the Cougars. There’s also been high praise for redshirt junior and Ouachita Christian graduate Landon Graves in the Warhawks program.

Among Armenta’s biggest moments of the spring game was a quarterback keeper up the middle. He made many key plays with his legs to keep drives alive for the black team and shorten distances between downs. Carlisle was sacked a couple of times but remained poised in the pocket. Graves also found a wide-open Dalen Hutson for a touchdown to continue sparking momentum for the white team.

“(Armenta’s) had some really good days,” Vincent said. “We’ve got a new offense, new terminology, new formations, new signals. He really got comfortable, and you could see, just every day in practice, he got a little better.

“Landon Graves had a great spring. Austin Carlisle’s had a really good spring. And Bryson Kimbrough was a true freshman last year. We’ve been really pleased with our quarterback room.”

The leader of ULM's offense will be decided later
Armenta played 23 games throughout his previous two campaigns with the Warhawks, totaling 24 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He finished with more passing touchdowns than interceptions last fall compared to 2024.

Carlisle, a three-star recruit from Texas, appeared in five games at Houston last fall and made his debut at Oklahoma State. Graves played eight games for ULM in 2025 with two touchdowns and two picks.

Vincent said it will be after the second scrimmage of fall camp until a starting quarterback is decided.

“We want them to compete to the end and lift each other up to the end,” Vincent said.

Watch out for Parker Fulghum
Fulghum is already a fan favorite in this ULM program and a needed addition in the team’s receiving core. His cousin, General Booty, is a former Warhawks quarterback. Fulghum’s father is also former LSU quarterback Josh Booty.

An Evangel Christian Academy standout, Fulghum comes to the Warhawks after two seasons at Clemson. He impressed right away in the spring game with a toe-tap grab to the sideline and later had a long touchdown reception.

“Parker Fulghum has come in with a mindset. He’s the same guy every day,” Vincent said. “He loves the game. He works (and) has high character. He comes out and makes plays. We are very excited to have Parker on this team.”

What's next for the 2026 Warhawks?
There were offensive struggles as ULM finished with a 3-9 record last season, including a 1-7 mark in the Sun Belt. The team finished the regular season on an eight-game slide and won only one game away from Malone Stadium.

There’s still many exciting things to look forward to for the Warhawks this fall, including hosting in-state opponents Southeastern, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette. There’s plenty of work to be done, but Vincent loves the direction his team is heading.

“In my three years, this is our best team. There’s no doubt, I think this is our deepest team, our most competitive team,” Vincent said. “We have a lot of leadership on this team. We’ve just got to continue to be able to play together.”
