Los Angeles Angels (19-32)7Pitchers looked like they were throwing for batting practice as the Athletics swept the Los Angeles Angels with a win that saw the two teams combine for 12 homeruns.
The Halos got things started in the bottom of the first inning. Zach Neto hit a no-doubt homerun with his first at-bat of the game, sending it 362 feet to left field. Jo Adell would make it back-to-back homeruns with another solo shot, this one going 342 feet to the right.
If it were possible for one pitcher in this contest to standout as particularly bad, Yusei Kikuchi took that honor with both hands. At the top of the third inning, he would give up four homeruns with Max Muncy, Jacob Wilson, Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz all going yard. Kurtz's moonshot would give him a homerun in all four games of the series.
Los Angeles wouldn't be denied, however, as they retook the lead in the bottom of that inning. Adell crushed his second homerun of the game before Jorge Soler hit a single. Yoan Moncada would destroy a hanging pitch, sending it 434 feet to dead center to make it 5-4.
Kikuchi opened the next half inning by letting up two base runners, giving Muncy the opportunity for a three-run homerun and he took it with a 422-foot effort to left.
The game would quiet down for a couple innings until Oswald Peraza and Neto hit back-to-back homers to tie it up at seven. However, Taylor Soderstorm would put the A's back ahead in the top of the eight inning with a 343-foot dinger.
The A's would get some insurance with the only run of the game not scored from a homerun in the top of the ninth inning.
