Yeah they blasted out of the gates and it looks like an impossible task to catch up to them. I'm in the process of trying to acquire Skenes from the Pirates for some prospects and Logan Webb (who just hasn't panned out like I hoped he would).

Diamondbacks acquire Paul Skenes in major trade blockbuster
The Arizona Diamondbacks made a huge change to their pitching rotation as they acquired Paul Skenes from the Pittsburgh Pirates for SP Logan Webb, 1B Domenic Peck and SP Bruno Mesa.

Dominic Peck, was the Diamondbacks first round draft pick in 2028 and their number one prospect in their farm system and number five prospect in the top 100.

Bruno Mesa, was the Diamondbacks third round draft pick in 2028 and their number four prospect in their farm system and number thirty-three prospect in the top 100.

Logan Webb, was the Diamondbacks big free agent acquisition in the offseason but after winning his first start Webb would lose his next six before being taken out of the rotation. Webb was in the first year of a three-year/$109.5 million contract. In 14 starts Webb had a record of 2-6 with 7 quality starts. He had an ERA of 5.64 with 70 strikeouts and 13 walks. He had allowed 109 hits, 16 home runs and 52 runs.

Paul Skenes, comes to the Diamondbacks with a 5-8 record in 16 starts this season. In 88.2 innings pitched, Skenes has recorded 103 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.67. He is in the final year of his contract that is paying him $37.1 million. The Diamondbacks have made it clear they intend to extend Skenes to a long lucrative contract.

Diamondbacks season could very well be determined in these next 14 games according to Manager Dave Roberts
The Arizona Diamondbacks were off to an impressive start to begin this season. Sitting atop the National League with a 20-9 record, then the calendar to turned to May and the D-Backs lost 8 of their next 11 games and they now find themselves at 47-35. Since that 20-9 start they have gone 27-26 and begin a nearly 3 week stretch before the All-Star break with no days off. Post All-Star break the Diamondbacks embark on a 10 game road trip facing the Whitesoxs, Mets and Phillies. Upcoming their schedule looks like this ...

July 2 - 4 @ Milwaukee Brewers (50-35, 1st place NL Central)
July 5 - 8 @ San Francisco Giants (42-42, 3rd place NL West)
July 9 - 12 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (59-25, 1st place NL West)
July 13 - 15 vs. Boston Redsoxs (42-43, 3rd place AL East)

The D-Backs are 1-2 against the Brewers, 3-3 against the Giants and 1-1 against the Dodgers and will play Boston for the first time this season on this stretch.
