Upper St. Clair falls just short, drops narrow loss to DeMatha

By Andy Villamarzo
October 10, 2025
Upper St. Clair's undefeated run came to an end Friday night in Maryland, as the Panthers dropped a tightly contested 41-31 matchup to powerhouse DeMatha Catholic High School. Despite a spirited fourth-quarter comeback attempt, the Panthers couldn't overcome a late turnover that sealed their first loss of the season.
Quarterback Malik Richards delivered one of his most productive games of the year, finishing with 359 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. Richards kept Upper St. Clair within striking distance all night, distributing the ball effectively against DeMatha's aggressive defense.
However, the turning point came midway through the fourth quarter. With the Panthers driving to potentially tie the game, Richards attempted to a force a dig route to wide receiver Cam Wilson. The pass was jumped by DeMatha linebacker Anthony Berry, resulting in a costly interception that stalled the comeback effort.
Upper St. Clair's receiving corps still produced strong numbers. Three-star wide receiver Zane Jones hauled in 12 receptions for 115 receiving yards and a score, continuing his strong season as Richards' most reliable target. Wilson also made his presence felt as his stock continues to rise, catching seven balls for 110 yards and a touchdown himself, including several key third-down conversions that helped keep drives alive.
DeMatha's defense was anchored by the state's top-ranked edge rusher, Leon Winfield III, who consistently disrupted the Panthers' pocket. Winfield finished with two tackles for loss and two sacks, applying pressure that forced Richards to speed up several throws throughout the night.
On the other side, DeMatha's offense proved explosive. Four-star quarterback Justin Marlow showcased why he's one of the most coveted passers in the region, throwing for 405 passing yards and five touchdowns in a standout performance. One of his primary targets was four-star wide receiver and University of Michigan commit Jett Moore, who finished with seven catches for 105 yards, repeatedly stretching the Panthers' secondary.
Despite the loss, Upper St. Clair showed resilience, fighting back late to cut the deficit to one possession before DeMatha closed the door. The Panthers now sit at 5-1 on the season as they regroup and prepare for the final stretch of their schedule, including trips to Ohio and Michigan for more interstate contests.

She is one of the least evil characters, I really can't blame you.
Cam been benefitting from the beef, but let's see how the new truth-bomb effects Malik's performance

Panthers dominate in trip to Lakewood, fly past St. Edward

By Andy Villamarzo
October 17, 2025
Upper St. Clair bounced back in emphatic fashion Friday night, traveling to Lakewood, Ohio and dismantling St. Edward High School in a 52-20 offensive showcase. After suffering their first loss the previous week, the Panthers responded with their most complete performance of the season, overwhelming St. Edward on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Malik Richards delivered a brilliant outing, finishing with 367 passing yards and five touchdown passes. Richards looked completely in rhythm from the opening drive, spreading the ball around early before repeatedly finding his top weapon downfield as the night progressed.
That weapon was three-star wide receiver Zane Jones, who turned in his most explosive performance of the year, Jones hauled in nine receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns, repeatedly beating St. Edward's secondary with a combination of quick routes and deep shots that stretched the field.
Fellow receiver Cam Wilson also contributed to the aerial attack, finishing with 73 receiving yards and a touchdown, helping keep the Panthers' offense balanced as Richards spread the defense thin.
On the ground, running back Raekwon Williams delivered a punishing performance, piling up 212 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Williams' physical running style helped control the tempo of the game, particularly in the second half as Upper St. Clair steadily pulled away.
With the victory, the Panthers move up to 6-1 on the season, regaining momentum as they approach one of their most anticipated interstate matchups of the year.
Next weekend, Upper St. Clair heads to Michigan for a showdown with Detroit Central Catholic High School, a game expected to draw heavy recruiting attention and provide another major test for the Panthers' high-powered offense.
