Titans bolster interior defense with linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, re-sign Jeffery Simmons, T'Vondre Sweat
The Tennessee Titans have signed free agent linebacker Edgerrin Cooper to a three-year, $58.2 million contract to land the top available linebacker in the market.

The signing is the first one for the Titans after they were able to re-sign defensive tackles T'Vondre Sweat and Jeffery Simmons to three-year deals to keep their defensive tackle room intact. Simmons' deal is valued at $104 million while Sweat comes in at $59.7 million to give the Titans one of the most expensive defensive tackle pairings in the league and also one of the best.

Cooper, 26, had a PFF rating of 85.9 last season and finished last season with 154 tackles for the Green Bay Packers with seven pass breakups. The former Pro Bowler has big shoes to fill at the Titans are moving on from Zaire Franklin after two seasons in which Franklin won Defensive Player of the Year in his first season and was an All-Pro last year but with Franklin turning 32, the Titans decide to get younger at the position and improve in pass coverage, which has been an area of weakness for the team with Franklin and Whit Weeks at linebacker, which are more of your downhill variety.

The Titans were keen on re-signing Simmons despite his down year, finishing with just 2.5 sacks last year, his second lowest in his career after recording back-to-back ten digit sack seasons in the previous two. Sweat continues to be an ascending player with nineteen tackles for loss last year, a career high, and returns as one of the best nose tackles in the NFL.

A few former Titans have signed deals elsewhere with guard Peter Skoronski signing a two year, $31.4 million with Arizona and linebacker James Williams joining the defending champions for $22.8 million over four years.

Moving on from Zaire Franklin is definitely a choice, but I like the idea of getting younger and getting more upside.

Slow start to the off-season, but we'll take that

Jaire Alexander headed to Tennessee as Titans continue to improve defense during free agency
Free agent cornerback Jaire Alexander has signed a one year, $18.7 million deal with the Tennessee Titans, joining Dylan Parham as the Titans latest additions to their roster.

Alexander, 33, spent the last three seasons with Baltimore where he was one of the league's top corners, recording ninety-one tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups with the Ravens last season. The two-time Pro Bowler joins a Titans secondary that currently features Jermaine Matthews Jr., Roger McCreary and Elijah Jones with Marcus Jones signing with the Los Angeles Rams.

The Titans also added Parham to replace Peter Skoronski at left guard, who signed with the Arizona Cardinals for $31.4 million over two years. Parham comes in at $20.6 million, saving the Titans around $5.2 million in cap space this season for a player that graded out similar to Skoronski.

Parham started all seventeen games with the Raiders last season after emerging as an entrenched, full-time starter for Las Vegas in 2025 after being a third round pick in 2022. Comparatively, Skoronski is a better pass blocker with his background as a tackle in college but Parham is a bit more physical in the run game.

I like the Cooper signing and bringing back Simmons. Jaire is meh. Four years ago Jaire ain't the same Jaire you're getting

but Cooper's athleticism should clean up a lot for the D

He's still high 80s rated with 90+ mcv and zcv

he'll get the job done and yeah, needed to improve our ability to cover tight ends and since Vegas dropped a bag for McKinney, decided to upgrade at linebacker instead of safety

No Caesar (gaslight) that was a once in a save type move, can't keep leveraging our future like that

Former Texan Danielle Hunter stays in the division, signs one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans have quietly amassed one of the best, if not the best, defensive line in football, adding free agent edge rusher Danielle Hunter on Wednesday.

The former Texan signed a one-year, $26.4 million deal with the Titans with $11.8 million due at signing. The contract makes him the third highest paid player on the Titans behind Justin Jefferson ($33.2m) and Jeffery Simmons ($32.9m) and a notch above T'Vondre Sweat at $18.8 million who comes in fourth.

The signing continues a trend of the Titans emphasizing their defense with four of their highest paid players (Rueben Bain, $11.1 million) belonging on the defensive line and all but two of their ten highest paid players being on defense.

Hunter, 33, will look to make a run at his first Super Bowl with a former division rival after spending the last four seasons in Houston. He finished with seven sacks last year, his second most since 2024 when he had twelve sacks in his first year with the Texans. He's failed to register double-digit sacks since after starting his career with four straight seasons with at least ten sacks.

The Rams continue to be big spenders, adding two offensive tackles in former Titan J.C. Latham and left tackle Rasheed Walker as well as cornerback Garrett Williams. Christian McCaffrey heads to Dallas on a two-year deal after there were some reports that the Titans could be interested in him.
