Loyd brings a different type of skill set then Nelson or Owens and despite my success I am not 100% sure he is my guy.. I feel like I have a pretty good read on Provo but I need to get Ottis (my 4* from 2 years ago) into a game because honestly he has the best throwing stats of all 5 QB's on the roster.

WEEK 4 RECAP

Coach Moore entered the Week 4 matchup with Stanford (2-4) life time against the Cardinals including the Cougars Pac-12 Championship win in 2027.

However since their Week 1 loss to BYU, Washington State has dominated their opponents in the 1st half and tonight was no different as the Cougars take a commanding (35-10) lead in the 1st half.

After a subpar performance in the 1st half of the BYU game before leaving with a injury, QB Calvin Loyd had been almost unstoppable the past 2 weeks carrying the Cougars to wins over Arkansas State and Washington and tonight was no different as Loyd throws for 4 touchdowns and runs for another.

Miami Ohio transfer Brayden Trimble continues to be one of Loyd's #1 target as the Senior WR grabs scores of 23 yds and 19 yds well Carter Pabst joins him with touchdowns of 9 yds and 4 yds

A INT early in the 3rd Quarter would end Loyd's day as WSU turns the offense over to backup Jonathan Provo and the run game.. After the Cardinals turned the INT into a FG making it (35-13), Provo would lead a pair of scoring drives in the 3rd Quarter ending with a 3 yd touchdown run by FB Cliff Provo and a 22 yd touchdown strike to Cory Izien to extend the Cougars lead to (49-13) as we head to the 4th.

Stanford would rally in the 4th Quarter scoring 3 times including a pair of touchdown pass's by SO B Kyle Goss (83) as the Cardinals cut into the lead (49-34) but with under 2 minutes to play WSU would tack on 1 more score as RB Clint Powell breaks free for a 33 yd touchdown run. With 1::18 to play in the game Goss would attempt to lead 1 more drive but True Freshman DE Marquez Charles would come up with his first career INT to seal the victory.
FINAL SCORE WASHINGTON STATE-56 STANFORD-34

KEY COUGARS
QB C. Loyd-30/46 (65%) 381 yds 4 TD 1 INT, 1 rushing TD
QB C. Provo-7/11 (63%) 55 yds 1 TD

TE C. Slye-4 rec 50 yds
DE M. Charles- 1 Sack 1 INT

UP NEXT
WSU moves to 3-1 with the win and moves up to #16 in the Top-25 rankings. Well it's to early to tell, a victory over the Cardinals should go along way in the Cougars quest to return to the Pac-12 Championship after missing out last year do to the tie breaker rules.

WSU will stay home and host (1-3) Texas State for Game #2 of the 3 game Homestand and their 2nd Pac-12 game of the season. The Texas State Defense is currently giving up over 46 points a game including 41 to FCS Midwest even in their 1 victory this season. (55-41) with loss's to TCU (56-0), Cal (44-3) and UTSA (49-10)

MOORE SUSPENDS 3 PLAEYRS AFTER BAR ROOM BRAWL!!

Reports out of Pullman is Saturday night after the Cougars win over Stanford, QB Calvin Loyd and WR's Carter Pabst and Conner Izien were involved in a altercation outside "The Coug" with a group of Cardinal fan's. The Report reads that Loyd was seen throwing the first punch and then Pabst and Izien jumped into the crowd looking to help their QB1.

Moore "
We have seen enough cell phone footage and have gotten enough witness statements to know Calvin was in the wrong, it appears that Carter and Conner were just trying to help but in the end both players ended making bad choices as well. For now the suspension is for the next 3 games (Texas State, UTSA, and Cal) with the plans to allow the players to participate in our Week 8 matchup vs Oregon State which happens to be Carter and Conner's last chance to play a home game here in Pullman."
Loyd is 96/148 (64%) on the season having thrown for 1329 yds with 15 TD and 2 INT. He also 68 yds rushing with 4 TD's.

Pabst who is coming off a record setting season last year currently has 21 rec for 244 yds and 5 TD's this year well Izien who posted a 1000 yd double digit touchdown season last year after transfering from Missouri State is #2 on the team this year with 23 rec and 282 yds well adding a touchdown.

Miller
"We got a great group of WR's but both Carter and Conner have some big shoes to fill. As of now the plan is for Calvin Wayne and Tristian Glass to join Brayden Trimble in the starting lineup."

Well most expect that Redshirt Sophomore Jonathan "JP" Provo will most likely step into the QB1 role with Loyd out, whispers out of locker room is that Coach Moore could use this opportunity to get a look at Redshirt Freshman Cortez Ottis as well as True Freshman Antwan Beaver.

Moore
"Obviously JP has some seen the field (8GP) with 901 yds 6 TD and 3 INT, but all of us coaches really liked what we saw out of Cotez this spring.. He actually probably throws the best deep ball on the team and has the most similar skill set to what Trey Owens offered us last year"

Despite missing 3 key starters on Offense, the Cougars didn't miss a beat as Redshirt Freshman Cortez Ottis picks apart the Bobcats secondary for a 500+ yd debut.

WSU jumped out to a early (14-3) lead in the 1st Quarter despite turning the ball over twice on downs and add a trio of scores in the 2nd Quarter to taking a commanding (35-3) lead into the locker room as Ortiz throws for over 300 yds and 4 touchdowns including a 82 yd screen pass to RB Clint Powell, a 68 yd bomb to Brayden Trimble and a pair of touchdown's to 6'5 Trisitan Glass who was making a Washington State debut after transfering from Coastal Carolina had a big 1st half finishing with 4 rec for 88 yds and the 2 scores.

Despite the lead WSU continued to fire away in the 2nd half as Ottis goes over 500 yds in his debut well adding touchdown #5 with another score to Trimble who now has 11 TD's on the season.(tied for 1st in the nation).

WSU however didn't just score through the air as True Freshman Cedrick Mangum getting extended PT scores twice finishing the game with a team high 96 yds on 23 carries. The Offense was helped out a bunch by the Cougar Defense who sacked JR QB Derek Sahara (67 ovr) 4 times and picked him off twice well holding the Bobcats to just 203 yards of Total Offense.

WSU would add on a trio of FG's to close out the game including a 52 yd make by SR Adlai Lounsbury..

I have to be completely honest I really didn't pay that close attention to just how much of a better passer he is then Loyd and Provo.. So I figured I need to come up with some idea to play him in some games and see what I want to do long term.. Loyd offers the ability to run but that has never really been my play style at QB.
