Fear the Beaver! Oregon State Goes Full Scary Szn In Halloween Annihilation of Aggies
Ricky McKinley // Dam Daily • Published: October 31st, 2026
It was all trick and no treat for the Utah State Aggies on Halloween at Reser Stadium as the Oregon State Beavers played the part of Jason, tearing their offensive game plan to shreds in a 45-10 massacre.
It feels like an age ago, especially if you're an Aggies fan, but the Utah State offense was matriculating the ball down the field on their opening drive, taking advantage of quick throws. It all came crashing down on 1st and 10 from the Beavs' 33, as Ka'eo Akana burst through the line for the first of two sacks, stripping the ball in the process and giving it back to the Beavers.
The Aggies would finally break through in the 2nd quarter, with WR Corey Thompson Jr climbing the ladder on FS Harlem Howard, who went for the interception and not the pass breakup, before accelerating for the 81-yard score to cut into the Beavers' lead at 14-7.
Zachary Card would answer with his second touchdown of the contest, totaling four in all (2 receiving, 2 punt returns) with an electrifying 81-yard punt return. Trailing 28-7 with just one minute left, the Aggies would cobble together a final drive thanks to a 30-yard screen pass to Noah White, lacing the field goal to make it 28-10 at the half.
As the pressure mounted on the Aggies in the 2nd half, with Oregon State adding another pair of touchdowns, things quickly fell apart. By the end of the contest, the Oregon State defense had tallied eight sacks, ten tackles for loss, and held the Aggies to 290 total yards.

Question One: Olivia LeRusso (Oregonlive): "Congratulations on a dominant win out there, Coach. Many pundits were calling this a potential trap game for your squad after the late-game heroics by the Bobcats last week. How did your team block out the noise to win in such resounding fashion?"
Armando Leon: "First, shout out to Zachary Card. He was nothing short of electric tonight. 120 receiving yards, 272 punt return yards, and four touchdowns. That's the kind of performance that gets you some extra attention on campus.
"To answer your question, Olivia, nothing special. The haters can say whatever they want, we put our blinders on and get to work, no matter the opponent."
Question Two: Chip Swarley (CW Sports): "What happened on the 81-yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter, and how did you keep the miscue from snowballing after a strong 1st quarter?"
Armando Leon: "Harlem simply went for the big play, not the smart play. We all want to be on SportsCenter with a highlight-reel interception, but plain and simple, that thought process left him out of position and he got Mossed for the touchdown. If we had help over the top, it wouldn't have been as explosive. But he was the help over the top, so when he whiffed, Thompson Jr was home free. We kept it from snowballing by getting back to basics. Harlem owned it in the huddle, apologized to the team for putting them in a precarious situation, and we moved on as a unit."
Question Three: Hank Jacobs (The Utah Statesmen): "Last one here, Coach. With the win, Oregon State is now bowl eligible. What were your expectations going into year one at the FBS level, and did you picture this type of success early?"
Armando Leon: "My wife would hate this answer, Hank, but we had no expectations on success. To quote Nick Saban: 'There is no continuum for success. Focus on the progress, not the results.' We just wanted to ensure that we put in the work necessary and let the results speak for themselves."

Bottom line - the boys handled this one with the focus on a championship-level team. We don't care what your record is, we just care that when the final whistle blows, you're eating an L.
The defensive line is turning into a nasty unit, the linebackers are reacting quicker than ever before, and our secondary is doing enough to hold up, big plays aside. The formula is working, and guess what, Beaver Nation?
We're officially going bowling.

Got the team rolling, got to be happy with the start so far.. Looks like WSU needs some help well Boise State appears to be your #1 target between you and a potential Pac-12 title.
I didn't realize how good Card until i scouted him in the portal but sadly he signed somewhere else..

Buried their running game, would like to see a bit better performance against the pass eventually but kept them out of the endzone mostly. Solid season thus far

Defense is looking really good. Keep this up and you might be getting HC offers at the end of the season.

I haven't paid too much attention to the offense since I'm just playing as the defense now, but he's definitely got some tools. Would definitely be utilizing him more if I was running the offense. Fresno State and Boise State are the other top teams, so we'll see how it shakes outDeuce2223 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026, 01:16Got the team rolling, got to be happy with the start so far.. no matter what I do, I always give up a fair amount of passing yards. Even with a 99 rated defense with Coastal, I still had plenty of games where we gave up 250+. Just goes with the style I play, I'm good with it so long as they don't score
they had the fastest receivers in the conference, I had a feeling they'd get free once or twice. I gotta stop going for the pick tho and just knock it down

But yeah, I was pleasantly surprised with the Oregon game.
we're definitely doing our part. That's one thing I'm excited to see is what offers I get. I think I'm staying in Corvallis for a few years at least, but at the same time don't want to get stuck where I don't get offers anymore. So we'll see how it shakes out. I don't see as many DCs getting promoted as OCs, so curious what kind of offers I eventually getShireNiner wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026, 09:25Defense is looking really good. "The Colony" Continues To Grow In Magnifico Fashion
Ricky McKinley // Dam Daily • Published: November 3rd, 2026
The Oregon State Beavers have shocked many nationally with their play this season, sitting at 6-2 through eight games and even went toe-to-toe with the Oregon Ducks in an eventual 23-7 defeat two weeks ago. It appears that their surging profile is catching the attention of high school recruits as well, as Oregon State announced the verbal commitments from five more future Beavers after their 45-10 decimation of the Utah State Aggies.
Headlining the slew of commitments is the 540th-ranked player nationally, cornerback Mario Magnifico from Santa Ana, California. Magnifico is a prototypical press-man corner with excellent size (6'2", 193lbs) who excels at jamming opposing wide receivers at the line of scrimmage, using his long arms to maintain spacing and leverage, with the speed to match them stride-for-stride after initial contact. The only downside with Magnifico is his lack of big plays, having notched a single interception throughout his 3 years as a starter for Foothill High.
One rival analyst graded the lack of interceptions as a plus, not a negative however, stating:
"I think his coverage skills are good enough that other teams shy away from throwing the ball his way entirely, opting to try their luck on his counterpart. That being said, there were at least four balls over the last two seasons that he absolutely should have gotten his hands on. But at the end of the day, many colleges now preach the knockdown over the interception. I don't think it's a major concern projecting his future at the FBS level."
When reached for comment DC Armando Leon praised Magnifico's football IQ and coverage skills, adding that he is "the perfect corner" for his scheme.
Joining Magnifico in announcing his intent to sign was 798th-ranked MLB Dion Doucet—who visited Corvallis when they shellacked FCS Montana—athletes Leo McGinnis and Max Waggoner, ranked 1,283rd and 1,378th respectively, and 1,426th-ranked tackle DeMarco Alabi.
On first glance, it appears DC Armando Leon has a heavy hand in the recruiting class as currently four of our seven signings are on the defensive side, but sources close to the situation tell me a number of offensive guys are "on the verge" of pledging to join The Colony, including QB Kyle Johnson and HB Derek Metropulos.
Obviously, we aren't beating down the doors of four-and-five-star prospects, but you have to be encouraged by the level of athletes the Beavers are bringing in next season. Skaggs and Magnifico project as the type of man-coverage corners we all know Leon loves at this point, and McGinnis brings a unique blend of size and speed. His problem? At 6'3" and 259lbs he's kind of a tweener. But from what I've seen on tape, he's the type of versatile athlete that Leon is going to use and abuse, just look at the production Hasson Manning Jr and Jaheim Patterson have had this season.
With the latest haul of signings, the Beavers have now officially signed seven three-star prospects for next season, good for the #1 ranking in the Pac-12 and 51st overall at this point in the season. With five more recruits, including Kyle Johnson and Derek Metropulos, reportedly on the verge of signing the Beavers' class could climb even higher in the national rankings before signing day.
