The Victory Lap? The alarm bells have been sounded, Stanford desperately needs a WR2 and pass rushing concerns

The rate 38 point win that felt like a loss. Saturday's game against UNLV was one of the more bizarre games that we've watched from Earl Nienhuis throwing four interceptions to the offensive line and running game failing to dominate its will to the ending where Stanford shamelessly ran up the score and covered the spread.

This might be a 'burn the tape' game where things just went wrong for Stanford's offense, coupled with the rain, and then Nienhuis lost confidence and things went downhill from there. Or, it could be a huge warning sign that there could some issues under the hood.

The win over Ohio State looks different now that the Buckeyes are 2-3, same with LSU who are 3-3.

Stanford plays Hawai'i next week in a similar matchup to this past Saturday and they'll need to answer some lingering questions before their rivalry with USC is renewed in two weeks.

Stanford needs another outside WR to step up
Rodney Cookus leads the team with 40 receptions. Freshman tight end Colt Mixon is second with 37. No other receiver has more than seventeen and that's slot receiver Alfonso Bramble.

Kyle Morrison leads all other outside receivers with fourteen receptions and the next receiver is Timmy Neil with six receptions and he plays both inside and outside. Brent Baker, another option on the outside, has more drops (3) than receptions (2).

An overreliance on Cookus led to the offense becoming predictable last season so Stanford heads towards their playoff push, they'll need to find more answers on the outside for Nienhuis and the passing offense.

Without a pass rush, Stanford's secondary continues to be tested
Through six games, Stanford's leading sack artist is defensive tackle Shaquille Pullard with two sacks on the year. Stanford's top two pass rushers, Javon Canady and Percy Cadet, have a whopping two sacks between them.

Cadet hasn't taken that year two jump that many expected him to after recording six sacks and eleven tackles for loss as a true freshman. Canady, a fifth-year senior, has yet to return to his form two seasons ago when he had almost nine sacks and twenty tackles for loss.

The end result of the lack of pass rush, just eight sacks in six games, is one of the worst passing defenses in the country, allowing over 300 yards per game. Stanford is already down a corner in Chauncey Ankrah and we've seen this secondary get blown by for some big plays as well as losing some jump balls but the common theme in those plays is the quarterback having all day to throw.

Stanford football opens recruiting class with commitment from Baltimore's Kionte Keo

Three-star receiver Kionte Keo has committed to the Stanford Cardinal, becoming the first member of Stanford's 2032 recruiting class.

Keo is the eleventh ranked player in the state of Maryland and plays for powerhouse program Archbishop Spalding in the Baltimore area. There's a lot to like about Keo at six-foot-four and 191 pounds with an impressive frame.

A physical receiver with a large catch radius, Keo has the athletic profile to develop into a dynamic outside receiver if he continues to improve on his route running. Whether or not he has enough juice and top end speed will likely determine if he's a true number one option down the line or a complimentary receiver but his physical traits alone make him a high ceiling type of prospect.

Keo was on campus for this past weekend for his official visit, as was quarterback George Ogbonnaya, the five-star quarterback out of Conroe, Texas. It seems like it's a three-team race for Ogbonnaya with visits lined up to Texas A&M and Texas in the upcoming weeks.

‣ The first-year starter waited a long time for his opportunity and has made the most of it with impressive outings against Syracuse and Miami despite the losses. He's thrown for five touchdowns in the last three games with just one interception and threw for 411 yards against Northern Illinois. Against Miami, the most comparable team he's faced to the Stanford defense, he wasn't as explosive but still didn't turn over the ball and will be a key piece in Hawai'i puncher's chance against the Cardinal
