9 yards per rush… looks like that run defense wasn’t that great after all

I wonder how much the lack of CPU running game is influencing the stats, cause they were trash against the run but solid against the pass lol

still got ptsd
can you even change the sliders once the game starts?

Pittsburgh, PA. - After every Pittsburgh Steelers touchdown, the same question echoed through Acrisure Stadium:
Will it be enough this time?
After all, it wasn’t an unreasonable fear. Not after the Chiefs stunned Pittsburgh a month ago by scoring 26 points in the final 2:30. Not with Patrick Mahomes on the opposite sideline. Not with the AFC Championship on the line.
This time, it was enough.
Barely.
Pittsburgh opened the game with a 12-play march that felt like a tone-setter, right up until Anthony Richardson was stuffed on 3rd and 1 and the Steelers settled for three.
Kansas City needed only three plays to answer. Mahomes read an uncovered flat off an RPO, flipped it to Isiah Pacheco, and the running back rumbled 60 yards untouched. The nearest Steeler was a good 15 yards away.
But on the ensuing kickoff, KaVonte Turpin, who fumbled three times in the Week 17 meltdown, took the moment personally. He hit a crease, exploded up the sideline, and housed it. Just like that, 10–7 Pittsburgh.
The Steelers never trailed again, though they looked over their shoulder plenty.
After a Chiefs three and out, Jaylen Warren turned a simple swing pass into a 72 yard touchdown, weaving through a defense stunned by his angle-changing burst.
And from there, the game became a shootout worthy of the matchup.
Mahomes fired back with a 22 yard touchdown to Xavier Worthy. Richardson countered with a perfect 45 yard strike to DK Metcalf, dropped between two defenders as Metcalf high-pointed through contact. Another defensive stop set up Roman Wilson’s 28 yard score, and suddenly Pittsburgh held a commanding 31–14 lead.
But the Steelers have seen too much Mahomes to feel comfortable.
The Chiefs star hit Worthy again. this time on a crosser he turned into a 48-yard touchdown. The Steelers blocked the PAT, a small but meaningful crack in Kansas City’s momentum.
With the Chiefs receiving out of halftime, it felt like the dreaded double dip was coming.
Instead, Mahomes sailed a ball on an RPO, and Jalen Ramsey snagged the overthrow, just the opening Pittsburgh needed. The Steelers punched in back to back touchdowns in the third quarter, stretching the margin to 45–20.
For any other quarterback, that might have been enough.
For Mahomes, it was an invitation.
Mahomes surged again, stacking drives with machine-like precision. Two short passes to Rashee Rice sandwiched another 50 yard touchdown burst by Pacheco as the Chiefs mounted another 4th quarter comeback.
Suddenly, what had been a 25-point game was down to three. Meanwhile, the Steelers offense went icy cold. Their attempt to bleed clock with the run game sputtered, and two straight fourth-down attempts stalled past midfield. The second ended with Richardson fumbling as he stretched for the line to gain.
With just over a minute remaining, Kansas City was a stop away from the ball back and the nightmare rerun of Week 17.
Instead, Tomlin did what he has done all season with his MVP front-runner;
He trusted him.
Facing 3rd-and-13 with the season hanging in the balance, Richardson fired a rope over the middle to DK Metcalf. Seventeen yards. First down. Ballgame.
“We were aggressive for three quarters because you have to be against these guys,” Tomlin said afterward. “You never score enough on Kansas City. You just try to make sure they run out of time before they catch you. It wasn’t always pretty. It wasn’t always tactical. But it was a win and we’ll take it.”
Mahomes, as always, was candid.
“We didn’t do enough out of halftime,” he said. “You can’t win every game coming back from 20-plus. Hats off to them, they built enough distance that we finally ran out of time.”
A signature performance from the MVP favorite
On the biggest stage before the biggest stage, Richardson delivered the cleanest playoff performance of his young career. 341 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions and several high-leverage throws that saved Pittsburgh when the game tightened.
Now, the Steelers are off to Super Bowl 61, where they’ll meet a familiar foe: the Green Bay Packers, the same team they faced in their last Super Bowl appearance.
Green Bay earned its spot with a 28–24 upset of Philadelphia, continuing an improbable run as the NFC’s No. 5 seed.
Pittsburgh survived Mahomes. Now comes the final test.

KaVonte Turpin blasting through the seam to avenge his fumbles in the Week 17 loss.

Mahomes shredded the Steelers for much of the game, including a pair of 50 yard touchdowns to Pacheco that the Steelers left uncovered.

Metcalf elevating over a pair of Chiefs for the 45 yard touchdown as the Steelers traded blows with the Steelers.

Jalen Ramsey being in the right place to snag the rare misfire on the RPO by Mahomes.
