Emirates NBA Cup to tip-off November 12

Commissioner Adam Silver’s dream of an in-season tournament for the NBA is finally being realized as the inaugural Emirates NBA Cup will tip off with Group Play on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in NBA team markets. Emirates and the National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced a multiyear global marketing partnership naming Emirates the Official Global Airline Partner of the NBA. The collaboration also makes Emirates the inaugural title partner of the NBA Cup, as well as the first-ever referee jersey patch partner of the NBA.

As the first title partner of the Emirates NBA Cup, the global airline will be featured through a co-branded Emirates NBA Cup event logo, with co-branded promotion planned across the NBA’s global social media community and in-arena signage throughout the Emirates NBA Cup Semifinal and Championship games starting this season.

All 30 teams will participate, with each team playing four regular season games that count towards the tournament's group stage standings. All games in the knockout round, except for the championship game, will also count towards the regular season standings. All teams will be randomly drawn into groups of five within their conference based on win-loss records of the 2023-2024 season. Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12 and continuing through Tuesday, Dec. 3, each team will play four designated Group Play games on “Cup Nights” – one game against each opponent in its group, with two games at home and two on the road.

Eight teams will advance to the Knockout Rounds: the team with the best standing in Group Play games in each of the six groups and two “wild cards” (the team from each conference with the best record in Group Play games that finished second in its group).

The single-elimination Knockout Rounds begin with the Quarterfinals (Dec. 10 and 11), also played in team markets, before the tournament culminates at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with the Semifinals (Dec. 14) and Championship (Dec. 17). Broadcast partners ESPN and TNT will combine to air 14 games during Group Play.

The Los Angeles Lakers received their rings in their home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. And while putting up the 19th championship banner in franchise history was a big deal, fans were also in anticipation of seeing LeBron James take the floor with his son, Bronny James, Jr.

Anthony Edwards had 20 points in the first half as Minnesota held a five point lead. Los Angeles continued to push and managed to tie the game going into the fourth quarter. Despite being tied in the fourth quarter, Anthony Davis and David Grace did not play a single minute of the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was all James as he scored 16 points to push the Lakers to a win.

Minnesota has to work on stopping the run. Los Angeles had 30 fast break points. Relied too heavily on the three point shots that stopped falling in the fourth quarter. Lonzo Ball looks to be a welcome addition to this Timberwolves team.

This was light work since the players just needed to be moved around.

But I've done it a few times with the Baldwin universe and that's more than enough for me :obama:
