All is right with the basketball world again. It’s hard to talk about the history of the NBA Finals without bringing up the Celtics and the Lakers. These are two of the NBA’s most decorated franchises winning a combined 35 of the Association’s 78 championships.

Los Angeles tied Boston for the most championships in 2020 by winning their 17th title in the bubble. After losing to the Golden State Warriors in 2022 NBA Finals, Boston is trying to tie the record again and pick up their 18th title in franchise history.
For Boston and Los Angeles, this is their 13th matchup since they first locked horns in 1959. The last time these two teams met was in 2010, when the Kobe Bryant led Lakers took down the Celtics in 7 games in front of a sold out Staples Center crowd.

These teams have been tighter than any other this year. Both finishing with 62 wins, and each picking up a win against the other as the visiting team. The Lakers have home court advantage because they have the better division record, going 13-3 versus Boston’s record of 11-5.

The Celtics have played 16 games to get to the NBA Finals, being pushed to seven games against the Atlanta Hawks who were playing without their star point guard Trae Young for the entire series. Robert Williams (4.2ppg/6/3rpg) and Marcus Smart (7.6ppg/5.1apg) have not played as well as expected this post season, but Boston has managed to survive and advance to reach this year’s finals. Jayson Tatum has led the way, averaging 29.9 points per game with Jaylen Brown following with 24.8 points per game.

David Grace has averaged 28 points per game and just over five assists and rebounds per game. Anthony Davis is averaging a double-double of 19.2 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. LeBron James is rounding things out with 14.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. So don’t think the King is resting on his laurels on his quest for ring number six.

Kobe and Pau v. Paul Pierce and KG.

LeBron, AD, and David Grace v. Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart.

It’s time for the next great chapter in the Celtics-Lakers rivalry to be written. There is no doubt that the x-factor here is going to be David Grace. The current MVP has dominated all season long and he is not showing any signs of stopping. How he and Tatum will match up will be interesting. Tatum finished second in scoring and MVP votes to Grace this season. Expect to see him playing with a little extra effort.

This series is expected to be a fight to the finish, expect it to go seven games. Los Angeles has the edge, will Boston be able to overtake the reigning champions?

Bron is on Tatum at the 4. Grace is on Jaylen.

Definitely need more from AD considering Robert Williams is his cover.

I'd switch that, put Grace on Tatum and Bron on Jaylen. Tatum might have too much wiggle for Bron
