The Majestic Pines of Maine State University - A Teambuilder Dynasty

Portland, Maine — As Maine State University Majestic Pines gears up for its inaugural football season, head coach Rob Tierney and assistant head coach Cam Monroe have wasted no time assembling a staff that blends regional roots, tactical ingenuity, and hard-earned experience. From FBS quality-control veterans to high school champions and rising stars, the Pines’ coaching staff is uniquely positioned to shape a competitive program from the forest floor up.
Offensive Coordinator / QBs: Sean Driscoll
Worcester, Massachusetts
A former OC at Division III Endicott and a quality control coach at Boston College, Driscoll brings a cerebral approach to offensive football. He specializes in modern RPO concepts and quarterback development, and was one of the first names Tierney targeted.
===“Sean has a gift for tailoring his system to the personnel. He’s here to help us punch above our weight early,” said Tierney.
Defensive Coordinator / ILBs: Marcus “Tank” Holley
Baltimore, Maryland
A hard-nosed former Navy linebacker, Holley previously worked with Tierney at New Hampshire. His attack-minded 4–3 defense emphasizes gap discipline and physicality in the trenches.
===“Tank brings toughness to everything he does. He’s not just a coach—he’s a standard-bearer for what we’re building,” Monroe said.
Special Teams Coordinator / Safeties: Jason LeClair
Augusta, Maine
LeClair is a local legend, having led Bonny Eagle High School to three state titles. His deep Maine roots and focus on game management and special teams fundamentals make him a crucial bridge to in-state recruiting and community engagement.
===“He’s a teacher first and always calm under pressure,” said Tierney. “That’s who you want managing the margins of the game.”
Running Backs Coach: Danika Graves
Hartford, Connecticut
One of the first women to coach at the FCS level while at Sacred Heart, Graves is a former semi-pro running back herself. Known for her demanding yet detail-oriented style, she focuses on footwork, blitz pickup, and toughness.
===“She’s got the full respect of that room already,” said Driscoll. “They run harder when she talks.”
Offensive Line Coach: Wes Maloney
Albany, New York
A grinder in the best sense, Maloney’s journey has taken him through stops at Ithaca, Maine Maritime, and Rhode Island. He’s known for turning overlooked groups into units that punch above their talent level.
===“Wes is a builder. Culture, chemistry, and pad level—that’s his lane,” Tierney noted.
Wide Receivers Coach: Troy Jenkins
Newark, New Jersey
A former UConn wideout with an Arena Football résumé, Jenkins injects swagger and tempo into the WR corps. He previously coached at Sacred Heart and Hofstra, bringing energy and accountability to a young position group.
===“Troy brings a pro mindset. His group is going to play fast and fearless,” Monroe said.
Defensive Line Coach: Ed Bouchard
Lewiston, Maine
After nearly a decade coaching the trenches at Husson University, Bouchard joins the Pines with a blue-collar mentality and local recruiting ties that run deep.
===“Ed’s the kind of guy who makes sure your lunch pail’s packed before dawn,” Holley said. “He fits perfectly.”
Outside Linebackers Coach: Tyler Michalski
Schroon Lake, New York
A former SUNY Cortland standout, Michalski is one of the staff’s youngest coaches. But don’t mistake that for inexperience—he’s a film junkie and technique wizard with a focus on space tackling and zone integrity.
===“Tyler might be the smartest guy in the room,” said Holley. “He sees things before they happen.”
Cornerbacks Coach: Andre Wynn
Providence, Rhode Island
Wynn, a former DB at URI, cut his teeth as a recruiting coordinator at Bryant. He joins Maine State with a reputation for precise man coverage instruction and red zone adjustments.
===“He’s meticulous,” said Monroe. “If your eyes aren’t right, Andre’s going to fix them.”
A Staff That Matches the Vision
Together, these hires reflect Maine State’s early identity: tough, sharp, regional, and developmental. Many of these assistants carry deep New England roots, strong recruiting relationships across the Northeast, and a shared belief in building a program the right way—from culture to scheme to player growth.
“It’s not just about wins this year,” Tierney said. “It’s about setting the standard. These coaches understand that. They’re not just here to coach football—they’re here to shape it.”
