Stillwater, Oklahoma -
In a dominant display, the Kansas Jayhawks powered past Oklahoma State with a 31-14 victory, bolstered by strong performances across the board in Week 10.

Kansas set the tone early with a methodical opening drive capped by Johnny Thompson Jr.’s 1-yard plunge for a touchdown. The Jayhawks quickly followed up with a touchdown strike from Isaiah Marshall to Damien Keo, extending the lead to 14-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Oklahoma State found some life in the second quarter, but Kansas linebacker Jayvaun Russell’s 37-yard interception return for a touchdown silenced the home crowd. Though Oklahoma State responded with a pick-six of their own, the Jayhawks went into halftime with a comfortable 21-7 lead.

The Cowboys made it a one-score game with a third-quarter touchdown pass from Garret Rangel, but the Jayhawks’ defense clamped down from there. Terrelle Warren’s 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter effectively sealed the game. Shaq Durham added a late field goal to pad the final score at 31-14.

Isaiah Marshall threw for 244 yards on 25-of-36 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions. His connection with Damien Keo was particularly effective, as Keo hauled in eight catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Johnny Thompson Jr. carried the ball 35 times for 142 yards and a score, consistently grinding down the Oklahoma State defense.

Jayvaun Russell was the standout on defense with seven tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pick-six. His play was complemented by Seth Sahara, who recorded four tackles and two sacks.

Kansas dominated the game in total offense, outgaining Oklahoma State 474-97. The Jayhawks' ground game was relentless, piling up 230 rushing yards. The defense shined as well, forcing three turnovers and holding the Cowboys to just 13 rushing yards on 18 attempts.

With this win, Kansas improves to 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in Big 12 play, solidifying their status as a top contender in the conference. Next up, the Jayhawks will look to continue their winning ways as they prepare for their next challenge.

Jayhawk Talk

Each week following their game Kansas Head Coach Jordan McAlary makes an appearance on KLWN to talk about the game, we'll include a few key points in this article.

On Cracking the Top 25 Rankings:
"Look, it’s been a grind, but seeing ‘Kansas’ next to No. 25 in the rankings feels pretty darn good. It’s a testament to these kids who have battled week in and week out. We’re not a finished product by any means, but we’re right where we need to be in November — in the hunt and in control of our own destiny.”

On Kansas Moving into the Top Two in the Big 12:
"Kansas State dropping one to Arizona was huge, no question. But I told the team, it’s not about what other teams do; it’s about what we do every Saturday. We’ve got a chance to make some real noise in this conference. We’re playing meaningful football in November, and that’s exactly where we want to be.”

On Isaiah Marshall's Performance Against Oklahoma State:
"Isaiah was steady. Sure, he had a couple of throws he’d like back, but he showed resilience. That’s what you want in your quarterback — a guy who can bounce back from mistakes and still lead the offense down the field. He’s got a calmness to him that you can’t coach.”

On the Defense Stepping Up:
"The defense won us that game, plain and simple. We had big plays from Jayvaun Russell and Seth Sahara; those guys were flying around. When you’ve got players making key stops and creating turnovers, it gives the entire team a spark. This group has shown time and time again that they’re up for the challenge.”

On the Running Game Dominating:
"Johnny Thompson Jr. was an absolute workhorse. We asked a lot of him with 35 carries, and he answered the call. He’s tough as nails, and our O-line did a great job creating lanes. When you can control the clock like we did, it’s demoralizing for the other team. That’s what we want Kansas football to be right there.”

On Looking Ahead:
"Now isn’t the time to get complacent. We’ve got a ranking next to our name, sure, but we’ve still got a lot of football left. It’s great to be in this spot, but our focus remains on getting better every week. The minute we start looking at the scoreboard or the standings, that’s when you lose your edge.”

On the Energy Around the Program:
"The buzz around this program right now is something special. You can feel it in the locker room, in the stands, and on campus. It’s a lot of fun to see Kansas football be relevant in November, and we’re just getting started.”

Recruiting Update

Kansas bolsters recruiting class with three signings

Kansas is making waves on the recruiting trail as the Jayhawks continue to solidify their 2027 class. Head coach Jordan McAlary and his staff have secured commitments from several key targets, including a few standout prospects that could make an immediate impact:

Immanuel Jones (CB, 4-star, Forney, TX): Jones is a versatile cornerback who fits perfectly into Kansas' aggressive defensive scheme. Known for his quick acceleration and solid coverage skills, he has the potential to be a lockdown defender early in his college career.

Zack Boyett (HB, 3-star, Kansas City, MO): Boyett, an elusive back, brings an explosive skill set to the Kansas backfield. With blazing speed and excellent agility, Boyett is expected to contribute immediately as a dynamic playmaker both on the ground and in the passing game.

Juan Kay (ROLB, 3-star, Frisco, TX): Kay is a strong addition to the linebacker corps, showcasing impressive speed and solid zone coverage abilities. He’s expected to bolster Kansas' pass defense and bring physicality to the run game.

Deandre Steele (RE, 3-star, Lawrence, KS): A hometown favorite, Steele has committed to Kansas State, opting to stay close to home but choosing the rival Wildcats. The power rusher has a strong set of pass-rushing skills and brings high motor play, which will be a big miss for the Jayhawks.

David Clabo (DT, 3-star, Fayetteville, AR): Kansas was in the running, but Clabo has chosen Arkansas. The powerful defensive tackle, known for his strength and solid block-shedding ability, would have been a great fit for Kansas' defensive line but will instead anchor the Razorbacks’ interior.
