DONTE LEE JR GETS BEHIND THE DEFENSE FOR A 65 YARD SCORE
---
Kent, Ohio – Tommy Ulatowski threw for 356 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Gavin Garcia contributed a pair of rushing touchdowns as Kent State improved their record to 2-2 with a 30-7 win over Massachusetts on Saturday.
The Flashes offense put up 452 yards while the defense held the Minutemen to just 189 yards. Kent State rolled up 22 first downs while UMass could only muster eight.
Garcia did not rack up a ton of yardage on the ground but he tallied 111 all-purpose yards and scored a pair of first half rushing touchdowns.
Ulatowski connected with Donte Lee Jr on a 65 yard bomb for a touchdown to put Kent State up 20-0 midway through the second quarter and then threw a second touchdown pass to Chrishon McCray from 16 yards out just before halftime to make it 27-0.
UMass managed to avoid the shutout when Cookie Desiderio scored on a two yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Will Hryszko, who missed an extra point and a field goal earlier in the game, added a 24 yard field goal late in the fourth to make it 30-0.
Kent State's new-look offensive line held the defense to just one sack of Ulatowski but they appeared to struggle in the running game at times.
Kent State will have next week off before opening up MAC play at Akron on October 11th.
