Five-star targets Ben Verrier, Kordell Williams cite Badgers struggles as reason for commitment elsewhere
Evan Temple-- Badger247 Recruiting Insider
The University of Wisconsin had hats on the table for two five-star prospects this past week but both defensive end Ben Verrier and outside linebacker Kordell Williams ultimately chose NC State and LSU respectively as their college of choice.
Verrier cited the Badgers lack of success on the field this season as one of the reasons why he didn't pick Wisconsin, despite having a good relationship with the coaching staff.
"I just wanted them to give me a reason to pull the trigger," Verrier told CBS Sports of Wisconsin, "I really like the coaching staff and they made feel at home but I wanted to see them win and they just haven't really been able to figure it out."
Williams said it came down to LSU and the Badgers and the proximity to his home state of Mississippi combined with the Badgers struggles led him to make his final pick.
