Coach Singleton's Post Game
Q: Was this a bit of a letdown after the Notre Dame where you guys were so competitive?
A: Just a piss poor performance, really. Defensively, we gave up a big play early and never recovered after that. As a coaching staff, we should have made more adjustments, pulled some guys, try different things and see how it goes. Just way too confident and steadfast with our original group and the gameplan that we felt that we could slow down their running game and we let their quarterback make plays that we can't let happen so just overall a bad performance from the defense from player to staff.
Q: The defense really shut down Notre Dame's rushing attack. How was Iowa able to run the ball so effectively?
A: It's a completely different offense and we know that but we felt that with our personnel, we should be able to be versatile enough to force them to play the game we want them to play. We struggled way too much in coverage so that we didn't feel comfortable pulling some of our lighter guys for bigger bodies and when we didn't, they went to the ground and had success there so if you can't stop the pass, you can't stop the run, it puts you in a tough spot as a coach as to who to play, where to play them and how to play them. If you're just getting whipped, you're just getting whipped. I think at this point in the season we have to be honest about the talent in the room and what they're capable of. As a coaching staff, that's on me for perhaps overestimating the talent that we had and what they're capable of. This isn't the NFL, we can't sign guys off the street or trade for a guy so we just have to keep working, keep improving and ultimately from our side as coaches, also understand the importance of recruiting and getting the right caliber of guys into the program.
Q: This has been a tough year for the program, specifically the defense as well. Do you anticipate any changes to the defensive structure in regards to play calling and different responsibilities?
A: Coach Singleton did not answer and ended the press conference

Five-star Indiana safety Jamerson Knowles commits to the Badgers
Evan Temple-- Badger247 Recruiting Insider
Despite a disastrous start to the season, help is on the way for the Wisconsin Badgers as the top ranked safety in the 2027 recruiting class has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers with Fort Wayne, Indiana's Jamerson Knowles picking Wisconsin over Notre Dame and Tennessee.
The six-foot-two, 195 pound prospect is the tenth ranked prospect in the nation and a consensus five-star with his blend of size, speed and physicality with the perfect athletic profile to play as the deep-lying safety in Jerome Singleton's 3-3-5 defense. Singleton was heavily involved in Knowles recruitment and the Badgers were ultimately able to land his commitment.
It's an impressive recruiting victory for Charles Huff's staff as they were able to wrestle Knowles away from the Fighting Irish amid their on-field struggles this year. Knowles will need to improve his form tackling but he does have the potential to be a day one contributor for a secondary that has really struggled this season and is looking for answers.
Knowles' commitment softens the blow of losing safety prospect Marco Branham to Michigan and one of their top corner prospects in David Bayless to LSU.
