Unlikely hero leads Dallas to 6th Lombardi Trophy
(LAS VEGAS) The Dallas Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs 24-19 on Sunday night to win their sixth Lombardi Trophy and first since 1995. The MVP was the hero nobody expected, quarterback
Trey Lance. Lance was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the season from the 49ers and did not play a snap all season. In the second round of the playoffs, Dallas beat Philadelphia on the road and lost Dak Prescott with an injury.
Lance came in to finish the win and then led Dallas to a 14-13 win over Minnesota to advance to the Super Bowl. Kansas City had a more predictable route, beating the Bengals and then Baltimore after having a first round bye. The Chiefs went up 16-7 before Dallas took the lead in the second half. Lance led all passers with 238 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for another 66 yards on the game.
