Coach Porter's Notes
Great offensive output last week. It all starts with the run game so we're looking to build on that again this week.
DL is the strength of the defense. DE Clowney (#95) has SEC experience and can be a problem in the backfield if we let him.
LBs are decent, Mayfield (#22) is all over the field.
SS Fields (#8) is the best player in the secondary, we should be able to take advantage of that group.

DELAWARE'S OFFENSE KEEPS ROLLING
Hens pound the rock, hang 41 on Louisiana Tech, improve to 8-0
Image

Saturday October 10, 2026 | Joe Aillet Stadium - Ruston, Louisiana | 2:30 PM

Ruston, Louisiana- The Delaware Blue Hens are proving week by week that they aren’t just undefeated, they’re unrelenting.

Behind another dominant rushing performance and a career day from quarterback Mason Kelsay, the Blue Hens (8-0) steamrolled Louisiana Tech (3-3) 41–7 in front of a stunned crowd at Joe Aillet Stadium.

Delaware racked up 571 yards of total offense, including 321 on the ground, and controlled the tempo from the opening whistle.

The tone was set early when Kelsay found Ja’Carree Kelly deep for a 46-yard touchdown, silencing the Bulldogs' crowd just five minutes into the game. Kelly hauled in the pass at the LTU 34 yard line, spun away from a tackler at the 15 then broke another tackles and scampered into the endzone.

The Blue Hens would never look back.

“It starts with the line,” Kelsay said postgame. “They kept the pocket clean and opened everything up for Dupree and the rest of us to just go play ball.”

Kelsay finished the day an efficient 14-of-21 for 250 yards and three touchdowns, adding two rushing scores of his own, including a highlight-reel 17-yard scamper in the second quarter and a goal-line keeper to ice the game in the fourth.

But the engine of the Delaware offense was junior running back Darius Dupree, who carried the ball 31 times for 167 yards, grinding down the Tech defense with relentless inside runs and explosive second-level cuts. Kelsay chipped in 99 rushing yards on just six attempts, including a 32-yard quarterback keeper on a third down.

“This was the most physical game we’ve played all year,” said head coach Tony Sanchez. “And that’s what we needed. Road game, conference opponent, long trip... we wanted to impose our will, and we did.”

On the receiving end, Kelly continued to flash his big-play ability, hauling in six catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Riley Williams emerged as a red zone threat, grabbing two touchdown passes on short crossing routes.

Defensively, Delaware was just as sharp. The Hens forced two interceptions, one each from Will Kendricks and Kingsley Royal, and held Louisiana Tech to just 50 rushing yards on 23 attempts.

“We took it personal,” said linebacker Collin Gill, who led the team with seven tackles. “They were physical on film. We wanted to make sure we were more physical today.”

The Bulldogs (3-4) managed a lone touchdown in the third quarter which came on a 23-yard run from Bryan Jackson. They were otherwise stymied all afternoon. Quarterback Marcos Davila was under constant duress, throwing for just 175 yards and two picks.

Delaware outgained Louisiana Tech 571–225, dominated time of possession, and converted 62% of their third downs. The Blue Hens posted 35 first downs to Tech’s 11, and went 5-for-5 in the red zone with four touchdowns.

Delaware will return home where they will play three of their final four games. Next up is Kennesaw State.

BLUE HEN REPORT
News and notes from Delaware's latest game
Delaware 41 – Louisiana Tech 7

Trending Up
OC DJ Porter | Delaware's offense has found their stride these last two games, putting up 89 points and over 1,000 yards. This is exactly what Ryan Carty had in mind when he hired Porter last season. If the Hens can keep this up Porter should be a hot target this offseason.
QB Mason Kelsay | Kelsay put together his most complete performance of the year, totaling 349 yards and 5 touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing) while averaging nearly 12 yards per attempt. Kelsay has contributed nine touchdowns in the last two games.
RB Darrion Dupree | Dupree powered the offense with 31 carries for 167 yards, setting a season high for both touches and yards. His physical running wore down Tech’s front. He's now run for over 100 yards in five straight games.
WR Ja’Carree Kelly | The deep threat struck early with a 46-yard touchdown and finished with 124 receiving yards on 6 catches, his best game of the year. After tallying just 41 yards in the two previous games a breakout game by Kelly could be the key to unlocking the passing attack even more.
CB Will Kendricks | The junior tallied 5 tackles and a key interception, his second of the season.
The Offensive Line | Paved the way for 321 rushing yards and gave up zero sacks on 22 dropbacks. They’re peaking at the right time.
Trending Down
TE Jake Bredell | Bredell has now gone back to back weeks without a reception. In the last four games he has one reception for seven yards. He has just seven receptions on the season. However, Bredell's blocking has been a key to the running game.
Quotables
QB Mason Kelsay | “It starts with the line. They kept the pocket clean and opened everything up for Dupree and the rest of us to just go play ball.”
HC Tony Sanchez | “You win on the road by being the more physical team. We owned the line of scrimmage on both sides.”
Injury Notes
OT Nikola Milovac | Milovac suffered an injury that is believed to be a torn labrum. The injury will require the coaching staff to shuffle the offensive line that has been working very well as of late.
News
RANKED | Delaware has joined the national media poll, sneaking into the 25th spot after their big win over Louisiana Tech.
QB Mason Kelsay | Kelsay’s five-touchdown performance against Louisiana Tech makes him a frontrunner for back-to-back CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
OLB Julius Puryear | Puryear is cleared to play and is expected to start against Kennesaw State.
CB Frank Sam | Delaware recruiting target Frank Sam has signed with USC. He recently had Delaware listed as his second choice.
SS Luther Hunter | Delaware has missed out on Hunter, who elected to sign with Texas A&M.
DT Tremayne Trimble | Trimble has signed with UConn following a visit.
Next Up
Delaware (8-0|5-0) will play host to Kennesaw State (3-3|2-0).
