Yessir! Hemby is a beast, so I think my game plan going in will be to stack the box and contain the outside.Captain Canada wrote: ↑16 Jul 2024, 14:22Here we go! That runningback speed might be something to watch out for
Typically I would agree, but since this is my second time playing the game (I played an exhibition half with NC State)… not sure how accurate of predictor this is gonna be. I should get smoked. I have to double check but I think we’re ranked like 120+ as one of the worst teams in the game. So Maryland isn’t what u would call a warmup game here
Game update should be coming Thursday prolly!

Huskies blanked by Terps in disheartening season-opening blowout, 41-0
COLLEGE PARK, MD — The UConn backups got some fourth-quarter reps once Maryland grew its lead up to 31-0 towards the end of the third quarter.
It doesn’t get much worse than what took place in Saturday’s affair between UConn and Maryland. However, the Huskies now have its toughest opponent (on paper) behind them and should be able to look forward to brighter days ahead.
Billy Edwards Jr. had a field day against the Connecticut defense to the tune of 328 yards and three touchdowns, though he did throw an interception to UConn's Tui Faumuina-Brown – who also led the team with eight tackles and a sack, which won him the conference defensive player of the week award.
While coach Jim Mora's defensive game plan to slow down running back Roman Hemby somewhat worked, the pass coverage was left vulnerable as sophomore wideout Shaleak Knotts had himself a day to remember with 11 catches, 168 yards, and two scores.

As if giving up 41 points wasn't bad enough, the offense struggled mightily to move the ball.
Signal-caller Nick Evers gave a less-than-advertised performance with just 76 yards and two interceptions on 15-of-28 passing. He hopes to get right next week against a much softer defense.
While Cam Edwards showed some promise on the ground, the game got out of hand quickly, which led to an abandonment of the run game.
"We were outmatched and outplayed. Simple as that," said Mora after the game.
UConn faces off against Merrimack next week for the home opener in East Hartford.

Oof. That's a tough one. Probably not extremely unrealistic though.

But ouch with the L.
Evers is a former Oklahoma QB. So I'm rooting for him.
Likely moving back to CT where this will be the closest school to me so I'm rooting for that too.

OOF.
Hopefully the morale isn't shot right there in week 1 with that loss

Yikes, not the way you want to start things off. Hopefully licking some wounds and finding some silver linings will have the team primed for Week 2

yeah i dont hate it. did some digging... 2021 they opened the season with a 45-0 loss, so right on par
thank u sir. ur help is much appreciated!
yeah it was just a tough game. i probably forced too much and couldnt get anything going.
well some of our guys are looking at the transfer portal with their eyes wide open now... so we def need to turn that around.
that should have been our toughest opponent right there, so it should be looking up from there. wont be mad at a 3- or 4-win seasonCaptain Canada wrote: ↑18 Jul 2024, 08:51Yikes, not the way you want to start things off.
