TJ Watt Calls Game As Steelers Clinch #1 Overall Seed

Drew Allar dropped back with one last chance to tie the game. TJ Watt ensured he never got the pass off, burying the former Penn State QB to end another narrow Steelers victory.

Pittsburgh, PA. - In the end, it came down to one player. It usually does.
T.J. Watt came around the edge unblocked with less than a minute remaining, buried Drew Allar before the Colts quarterback could survey the field, and ended Indianapolis' last hope of forcing overtime — sealing a 27-20 Pittsburgh victory that clinches the AFC's number one overall seed and extends the Steelers' winning streak to eight games.
The finish was dramatic. Indianapolis had trailed 27-20 with time expiring but had life — a 32-yard Allar completion moved the Colts into Pittsburgh territory with a chance to tie. With no timeouts remaining, the Colts scrambled to the line in a frantic attempt to spike the ball and stop the clock. In the chaos, nobody accounted for Watt.
It was an expensive oversight.
The result was a fitting conclusion to a game that saw the Colts threaten early before Pittsburgh's defense gradually tightened its grip. Indianapolis scored on each of its first two possessions behind crisp, efficient passing from Allar, but managed only a pair of field goals from the second quarter onward as Brian Flores made the necessary adjustments.
"We did a great job of staying in front of them," Flores said postgame. "Absorbing their first couple of haymakers and staying grounded."
Pittsburgh's offense was sluggish through much of the first half but found its footing at the right moments — touchdowns to close the second quarter and open the third kept the Steelers within striking distance before the fourth quarter offense took over, turning a 20-14 deficit into a 27-20 lead that Watt ultimately made permanent.
Scheelhaase summed it up with the quiet confidence of a coach who has seen his team find ways to win all season long.
"That's what playoff teams do," he said with a grin. "Hang around until it's winning time."
Pittsburgh returns to action next week at 13-1 with the top seed in the AFC secured.

I barely even control Watt, usually I control Harmon on the interior or one of the MLBs. Our boy on the verge of history, we gotta make it known

Steelers Prevail In Sloppy, Rain Soaked Affair At Acrisure

DK Metcalf flying through the rain to haul in the deep ball late in the third quarter. Metcalf would haul in a 7-yard slant two plays later to keep the Steelers on step ahead of the Jaguars.

Pittsburgh, PA. - Two Leonard Lawry interceptions gave Jacksonville just enough ammunition to keep things interesting. It was never quite enough.
The Pittsburgh Steelers moved to 14-1 on the season with a 34-24 victory over the Jaguars at Acrisure Stadium, surviving a pair of self-inflicted wounds and a second-half scare to pull away comfortably in the fourth quarter behind the kind of clutch offensive execution that has defined this team all season.
Lawry's first interception came on a deep out intended for Ryan Williams, who slipped in the elements and took himself out of the play. With Kyle Hamilton rotating over the top, the pass was an easy read for the former Notre Dame safety. Jacksonville converted the turnover into a field goal, but Lawry responded with back-to-back scoring drives to send Pittsburgh into halftime with a 17-10 lead and firm control of the game's momentum.
Juan Steward put any remaining doubt to rest immediately after halftime, taking the opening kickoff back for a touchdown to push Pittsburgh's advantage to fourteen. Jacksonville refused to fold. Bhayshul Tuten sliced through Pittsburgh's defense on a breathtaking 79-yard touchdown run to keep the Jaguars within striking distance. Trevor Lawrence found Lawson Luckie on a 31-yard touchdown strike following Lawry's second interception to pull Jacksonville within three in the fourth quarter, a score that left Acrisure Stadium briefly and uncomfortably quiet.
DK Metcalf silenced it. The veteran receiver hauled in a diving catch to extend Pittsburgh's next drive, then added a touchdown of his own to restore the cushion. When Zamari Stevenson stepped in front of a Lawrence pass for an interception shortly after, Steward delivered the dagger — a 39-yard run that sent Pittsburgh's sideline into full celebration and put the outcome beyond doubt.
The Steelers remain the AFC's top seed at 14-1 with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
