Chaminade quarterback Danny Roldan commits to Stanford over Big Ten suitors
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
Three-star quarterback Danny Roldan has committed to Stanford, picking the Cardinal over Washington, Illinois and Michigan State as Coach Mack and his staff get their quarterback of the class.
Stanford quickly pivoted to Roldan following George Ogbonnaya's commitment to Texas. From a traits standpoint, there's a lot to like about Roldan who is from West Hills, California which is in the Los Angeles area.
A two-year starter at Chaminade, Roldan is a nicely built quarterback at six-foot-four and already weighs 200 pounds with a strong frame that could add more weight. When watching his tape, the first thing that stands out is his size and arm strength, capable of making any throw. He has functional athleticism in the pocket but will need to improve his pocket presence as well as his consistency and accuracy.
Roldan's commitment brings Stanford's class size to nineteen high school players and is currently ranked No. 7, slightly ahead of USC and a few points behind Oklahoma. As Early Signing Day nears, Stanford remains involved in the recruitment of Wyoming guard Brian Ireland, whose a top three interior lineman along with four-star Jabu Igbinoghene, whose been trending towards Ohio State.

Stanford drops to No. 11 on Early National Signing Day as Jabu Igbinoghene chooses Ohio State
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
It was a quiet Early National Signing Day for the Stanford Cardinal as all nineteen members of Stanford's recruiting class have signed their National Letter of Intent as the Cardinal finished the day as the eleventh ranked recruiting class in the country, sliding a few spots down from their No. 7 spot entering the week.
The Cardinal were hopeful that they'd be able to add four-star guard Jabu Igbinoghene who signed with Ohio State and Jahlil Stanford committed to Oklahoma last week as Stanford was unable to add to its offensive line class. They remain in the hunt for top 65 player Brian Ireland, who will sign in February. Ireland released an updated top four of Stanford, Pitt, SMU and Mississippi State and plans to take visits once the dead period ends in January.
