Stanford add four-star linebacker Darren Calmelat to recruiting class
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
Four-star linebacker Darren Calmelat has committed to Stanford, becoming the highest ranked recruit in the Cardinal's top eight recruiting class.
Calmelat chose Stanford over USC and held interest from other west coast programs such as UCLA and Oregon despite hailing from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin with the Badgers never being much involved in his recruitment.
The six-foot-four linebacker plays with a lot of physicality and could potentially play as a stand-up edge rusher or outside linebacker in Stanford's base defense. If he's able to add more weight and get closer to the 230-pound range, he would help add some juice and twitchiness to their outside linebackers which are more stout and edge setter types.
He could ultimately stay at linebacker, his current role at the high school level, and play one of the two off ball spots in Stanford's base and sub packages but he will need to improve in coverage.

STAN | 7 | 7 | 0 | 6 | 6 | 26
TCU | 3 | 0 | 3 | 14 | 0 | 20
Stanford's offensive stars had put the game in jeopardy with quarterback Earl Nienhuis throwing a goal line interception before the end of the first half, a pick-six to get TCU back into the game in the fourth quarter and Rodney Cookus' fumble in the redzone earlier that quarter.
Richard Caussin's interception on the first play of the overtime helped them atone for their sins, setting up the walk off 23-yard touchdown from Nienhuis to Cookus as Stanford escaped Fort Worth with a 26-20 victory.
Caussin's first interception of the game came in the fourth quarter with eight minutes left and Stanford leading 17-6 with a chance to put the game away but Nienhuis would throw an interception to Jimmy Gruttardauria while targeting Cookus and it was returned for a touchdown to make it a one score game.
Stanford's next possession would be three and out, setting up TCU's eleven play drive to take the lead which included a 30-yard completion on fourth and fourteen from their own 35-yard line with two minutes left and then quarterback Ray Padrino had a 24-yard scramble on third and one to get the ball to the goal line where Tevin Cole would punch it in with a minute left.
The Cardinal would force overtime thanks to an eleven yard completion to Cookus and scrambles of sixteen and six yards by Nienhuis to get them into field goal range where Brian Vallos nailed the 45-yard kick to get the ball into overtime.

Stanford lands electric slot receiver Damien Yeboah from Oklahoma
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
Nothing like a Sunday morning after a Saturday night and Stanford's coaching staff got it with a side of a commitment from one of their top targets as four-star receiver Damien Yeboah committed to the Cardinal.
Yeboah is a top-400 prospect but is internally viewed as one of the top receiver options in the country. They view him as someone that can play all three receiver positions in Stanford's offense but have been recruiting him to be Alfonso Bramble's understudy for the next few seasons before taking over that role.
The Broken Arrow native is absolutely dynamite with the ball in his hands whether in the screen game, jet sweeps or as a returner but has also showcased the ability to run real routes, both in the quick game and down the field.
At this stage in his development, he's probably further along than Bramble was in high school and Bramble was able to put up over 400 yards as a true freshman. While he might not be able to overtake snaps from Bramble right away, his effectiveness as a route runner should put him in the running to compete for some playing time on the outside, opposite of Rodney Cookus, which has been a weakness of this passing game.

Too much playing with your food there. Get the bad turnovers out of the way against bad teams.
