Pittsburgh, PA. - Just three plays into Sunday's showdown between the undefeated Rams and the 9-1 Steelers, the tone was set.
Alex Highsmith barreled around the edge, leveled Justin Fields, and knocked the ball loose. Safety Ji'Ayir Brown scooped up the fumble and raced to the end zone, igniting what would become a 31-0 run as Pittsburgh steamrolled Los Angeles 38-14 at Acrisure Stadium.

The Rams' perfect season is over, and it wasn't even close.

Fields and the Los Angeles offense managed just 38 yards in the first half as Pittsburgh's defense suffocated any rhythm the Rams tried to establish. Fields absorbed four sacks and fumbled twice, both leading directly to Steelers touchdowns.

The pressure was relentless, the coverage was suffocating, and the Rams had no answers.

To add insult to injury, rookie Ryan Williams the player Pittsburgh selected with the first-round pick they acquired from Los Angeles in last year's draft, torched his would-be former team for a pair of touchdowns. The irony wasn't lost on anyone.

Fields finally found some breathing room in the third quarter, connecting on a touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 31-7. Los Angeles would get a bit of luck in the 4th quarter for the final score of the game, as Jordan Tyson fumbled on the 1 yard line stretching foe the touchdown. Terrance Ferguson, however, made a heads up play, recovering the ball in the end zone for the final touchdown of the contest.

"If we had a few more bounces go our way like that, it would be a different game," Rams head coach Sean McVay said after the loss.

Of Pittsburgh's 38 points, 21 came directly off turnovers. Even when the Steelers made mistakes — like Keaton Mitchell's fumble in the red zone late in the second quarter — Los Angeles couldn't capitalize. A sack that nearly resulted in a safety forced the Rams to punt, and Anthony Richardson took over on a short field to set up a field goal before halftime.

The Steelers were opportunistic. The Rams were sloppy. That was the difference.

Both linebacker Patrick Queen and edge rusher T.J. Watt left the game in the second half with minor injuries, briefly raising concerns for Pittsburgh. But head coach Mike Tomlin announced after the game that both players would be ready for next week's crucial matchup against the Detroit Lions.

The news was a relief for a Steelers team that's now 10-1 and firmly in control of the AFC playoff race.

Steelers, Zach Frazier Agree On Three Year Extension

Image

Pittsburgh, PA. - The Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced Monday that center Zach Frazier has agreed to a three-year extension worth $46.8 million, keeping the 26-year-old anchor in Pittsburgh through the 2030 season.

The deal solidifies the middle of Pittsburgh's offensive line and ensures continuity between Frazier and quarterback Anthony Richardson for the foreseeable future.

"Zach plays a pivotal position along the offensive line and the comfortability between himself and Anthony [Richardson] made this a no-brainer," GM Omar Khan said in a statement. "The Steelers thrived for years with a prolific QB-center combo in Big Ben and Maurkice Pouncey, and we have the same high expectations of our current duo."

In addition to the Frazier deal, the Steelers announced that running back Quinshon Judkins signed a two-year, $12 million extension.

Judkins was claimed off waivers late in the preseason after becoming a surprise roster cut by AFC North rival Cleveland. The former Ohio State Buckeye took a few games to find his groove in Pittsburgh, but once Kaleb Johnson's fumble problems opened the door, Judkins seized the opportunity. He's thrived ever since, rushing for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns this season while establishing himself as the Steelers' primary red-zone weapon.

Khan also announced that the team would not be negotiating any additional extensions during the season, despite both linebackers Payton Wilson and Alex Highsmith entering the final years of their contracts.

"There are obviously more players with upcoming contracts, but with cap constraints we will be forced to re-evaluate after the season," Khan said.

The decision signals that Pittsburgh will likely face difficult financial choices in the offseason. With Richardson's massive extension already on the books and both Wilson and Highsmith seeking significant raises, the Steelers may not be able to retain all of their key pieces.

Wilson has emerged as one of the league's most promising young linebackers, while Highsmith is coming off a Defensive Player of the Year season. Both will command top-tier money on the open market if Pittsburgh can't reach deals before free agency.

For now, the Steelers have secured two important pieces of their championship core. The harder decisions can wait until February.

Put Fields in his place and gave the Rams a nicely reality check.

Ramsey missed 6 or so games with a broken collarbone to start the season. Aside from that its been nagging injuries. Watt and Harmon missed a half, Cayden Green (G) and Kelvin Banks Jr (T) have both been in and out with bruised shoulders and such. Same with Kyler Kasper and Kavonte Turpin. But overall, not too bad. Last year Seumalo and Brown (LG and LT) went down prior to the playoffs, had AR running for his life
