Defeating the Broncos on the "The Blue" is actually pretty tough even in real life

Fresno State broke a 16 game win streak this year beating BSU at home and it was only the 3rd loss at home since 1997..

Their longest streak was 35 games which was snapped in 2005 by Boston College and Matt Ryan in the MPC Bowl game (a game I was at). as a D-1/D2 school... They also had a 37 game home winning streak was a JC back in the 1940-1950.

NO BARK ALL BITE!!!

WEEK 8

Boise State went into their Week 8 matchup against Oregon State without Star QB Tobias "Barks" Barksdale but it didn't matter as BSU served up a full course meal of RB Greg Stock who returned to lead the Broncos to their 7th straight victory on the season.

Stock who played just 10 snaps in last week's victory over Arizona carried the ball 12 times in the opening Quarter scoring and gave BSU the early (7-0) lead with a 12 yd touchdown run.

With Tobias Barksdale in street clothes, Nate Exum would get his first start of the season after starting 3 games last year for the Broncos. Exum would play amazing completing 72% of his pass's (16/22) well throwing for 264 yds and 4 touchdowns to give Boise a commanding (35-3) lead going into the half.

Coach Miller
"Nate "The Great" proved last year that our offense doesn't miss a beat with him under center. Most teams would have to dial back their offensive playbook when playing a backup, but both myself and Marcus feel like any play we would run with Barks under center we can run with Nate. We are blessed to have such a talent like that available to us."
With the rain coming down even harder in the 2nd half, the Beaver fans stil left in the crowd got to see plenty of Greg Stock in the 3rd Quarter as Stock adds to the Broncos lead with another touchdown before departing as the Broncos turn to their 2nd string units to close out the game. Stock would finish the night with 136 yds on 30 carries..

Backup RB Addision Daniels coming off his first 100 yd day against the Wildcats continued to show he is more the capable of carrying the load is he adds to his first half totals ending the day with another 100 yd day carrying the ball 23 times for 110 yds including a 18 yd touchdown run midway through the 4th Quarter to give BSU the (52-3) lead.

Held to just 150 yds of Total Offense including just 21 yds on 14 carries, Oregon State would finally find the endzone with 2:12 to play in the game to make it (52-10) but BSU wasn't done scoring.

3rd string QB (True Freshman) Kyle Mast would make up for his earlier INT (which lead to the Beaver score) by completing a 69 yd bomb to TE Scott Fowler who is tackled at the inside the 10 yd line Mast would then keep the ball himself for a 7 yd gain down to the 2 yd line before FB Max Davis would get a rare carry taking the ball in for his first career touchdown as Boise State putts the final score on the board.

Coach Miller "
I know alot of people with 2 minutes to play would've just tried to run out the clock, but to be honest I didn't want Kyle to end his night on a INT. I want him to know we trust him to make plays for us and I like Nate, I want him to feel comfortable with all entire playbook.. Also I loved the call to give Max the ball at the end.. He has been huge for our run game and our success and sometimes it's nice to give them more then just words of praise"
FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-59 OREGON STATE-10

KEY BRONCOS
QB N. Exum-16/22 (72%) 264 yds 4 TD
QB K. Mast-10/16 (62%) 165 yds 1 INT, 1 carry 7 yds

WR E. Chance-6 rec 69 yds 2 TD
WR F. Donahue-4 rec 39 yds
Defense- 6 Sacks, 9 TFL and 1 INT by Roland Finley

UP NEXT
BSU will return home for a Week 9 matchup with (6-2) Cal.. The Bears actually started their season 6-0 and had joined the Top-25 with wins over BYU, Utah, Arizona and Oregon State and appeared like they were in the discussion for a Pac-12 title bid, but have since lost 2 games in a row @ Arizona State (43-34) and vs Washington State this week (42-34).

BSU enters the game leading the Pac-12 and Nation scoring at 48.3 PPG well Cal is 2nd in the Pac-12 and #10 in the Nation at 41.9 PPG, but Defensively BSU is giving up just 19 PPG this season and leads the Conference in YPGA (292) and RYPGA at (50.7) which is ranked #1 in the nation.

RECRUITING UPATE

After a quick start singing 4 players before Week 6, things have slowed down since with BSU losing 2 players off their Big Board that would've been potential impact players.

5* DE Matt Goldstein (#22 Overall/#3 NJ/#3 DE) visited BSU in Week 4 but has made if official he is head to Lincoln to be a Cornhusker.

4* QB Deacon Angel (#161 Overall/#20 CA/#12 QB) was scheduled to visit this week against the Bears but instead made his commitment to the Ducks after taking a Week 7 visit to Eugene.

Angel was the Broncos #1 QB target leaving Coach Miller and the staff to revisit some earlier scouting tapes on players still available...

CAN ANYONE STOP THE BRONCOS??
WEEK 9 RECAP

With their 35th straight win, BSU has officially passed Miami's 34 game streak from 2000-2002 tying Toledo (1969-1971) for the longest All-time winning streak. The win also gives BSU their 4th 20 game home winning streak in school history including their 2nd during this Dynasty.

BSU would trail (14-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter as the Cal Offense showed why they are ranked in the Top-10. The Cal Defense also had a solid game plan for RB Greg Stock holding the Heisman candidate to just 40 yds on the ground in the 1st Half but with the run game struggling QB Tobias Barksdale took over.

Barksdale who threw 4 INT against Arizona in Week 7 and missed the Broncos game against Oregon State in Week 8 came out firing in the 2nd Quarter throwing a pair of touchdowns (18 yd to T. Shelley and 2 yds to TE Scott Fowler) to give BSU the (21-14) lead going into the locker room.

Barksdale got things going in the 2nd half too as he finds Enrique Chance on a 16 yd score to extend the lead to (28-14).. Well Cal did a great job of containing RB Greg Stock running the ball, the defense would struggle keeping tabs on him when he moved out of the backfield as Stock breaks free for one of the biggest plays of the game with a 56 yd reception. .

Stock however would almost match that play midway through the 3rd Quarter a he breaks free for his longest touchdown run of the season as he goes 53 yds to the house to extend the BSU lead. Cal would answer back though with their own big run as SR RB Rashaun Ausborn (91 ovr) goes over 100 yds on the day with a 35 yd touchdown run with 3:12 to play making it (35-21).

Anyone who chose to take a bathroom break or walk away from the TV over the next 3 minutes would miss explosive plays made by both sides of the ball.. First BSU answered Cal's touchdown run with another Stock touchdown as the Redshirt Sophomore takes a screen pass in from 10 yds out to make it (42-21) with 1:14 to play. Then it was CB Roland Finley picking off SR QB Mike Harvey (91 Ovr to set up Stocks 3rd touchdown of the quarter as rumbles in from 4 yds to make it (49-211) as the 3rd Quarter comes to a end.

Harvey day would go from bad to worse though as the Senior QB throws his 2nd INT to open up the 4th Quarter as SS Terrance Tubbs comes away with the take away to set up a 16 yd touchdown pass from Barksdale to Chance as BSU goes over the 50 point mark for their 2nd straight game. extending their lead to (56-21) with 2:41 to play.

Harvey would bounce back from his back to back INT's with a 2 minute drive to close out the game with score as he finds JR WR Quincy Nkansh (82 ovr) down the sideline. But it was to little to late.

Harvey finished the day (17/29) for 181 yds with 2 TD and 2 INT, Nkansh led the Bears with 5 rec for 81 yds and the touchdown well Ausborn finished with 109 yds on 14 carries including the touchdown.
FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-56 CAL-28

KEY BRONCOS
QB T. Barksdale-30/41 (73%) 442 yds 4 TD, sacked twice.
RB G. Stock-27 carries 176 yds 2 TD, 7 rec 129 yds 1 TD
WR E. Chance-8 rec 126 yds 2 TD
WR T Shelley-5 rec 63 yds 1 TD
WR F. Donahue-2 rec 35 yds
TE S. Fowler-7 rec 66 yds 2 TD
CB R. Finley-1 INT, SS- T. Tubbs-1 INT
Defense also had 4 sacks.

UP NEXT
BSU will put it's perfect 8-0/6-0 record and win streak on the line as they host #13 Oregon for a Top-25 showdown on "The Blue". The Ducks have never won in Boise (IRL) but are one of just 2 teams to have won a game on "The Blue" in this Dynasty.

The Ducks opened their season 3-0 and but lost back to back games (USC/UCLA) but have now won 3 straight with wins over Arizona State, Washington and Colorado (49-28, in Week 9)

TEAM REPORT

STOCK FOR HEISMAN

RB Greg Stock has officially taken over the #1 vote for Heisman after his 300 All-Purpose yards performance against Cal in Week 9.. Stock has also officially joined the 1000 yd mark with 203 carries for 1002 yds and 17 TD's on the ground well also proving more the capable of helping outside of the backfield with 27 receptions for 336 yds and 2 touchdowns through the air.

Stock is currently joined by a pair of QB's and a pair of WR's in the Top-5 Watchlist.

Colorado SR WR Deonte Abraham (84 Ovr) is #2.. Abraham who posted monster #'s in 2032 with 109 rec for 1670 yds and 19 TTD's is off to another great year with 72 rec for 1091 yds and 10 TD through 9 games.

Buffalo RS SO Quincy Wayne(83 Ovr) had a breakout season for the Bulls last year with 85 rec for 1103 yds but has already surpassed those #'s this year with 94 rec for 1337 yds and 8 TD through 9 games.

Ole Miss JR QB Barry Butts (94 Ovr) is currently #3. Butts like Abraham and Wayne is no stranger to big seasons. Butts threw for 4726 yds with 45 TD and 12 INT last year and is on pace for another huge season with 3252 yds with 33 TD and just 3 INT well lead Ole Miss to a perfect 9-0 start.

Kansas State SR QB Roy Ramsey (86 Ovr) is a 3 year starter for the Wildcats and once again appears like he will break the 3000 yd plateau again. Dawsey has 2235 yds with 21 TD and 3 INT through the air well also rushing for 542 yds and 8 TD on the ground.

TE U??

Over the past 10 years, Boise State has become QB and RB U sending multiple former players on to the NFL after posting monster seasons in the Broncos high scoring offense..

Last year Larry Ika won the John Mackey after posting a 1000 yd double digit touchdown season for the Broncos and it looks like JR Scott Fowler is looking to make it back to back . Fowler who had 15 rec for 182 yds in 2032 last limited to just 4 rec for 60 yds last year but has broke out this season . He is currently 3rd on the team in receptions (42) 2nd in Yards (699) and is tied for #2 in touchdowns (8) .

WEEK 10 AROUND THE NATION UPDATE

With the arrival of Week 10 we take a look at the first Top-25 College Football Rankings of the season. Week 10 matchups to watch

Besides #3 Boise State taking on #13 Oregon there are a few other big time matchups

#5 Florida will play against #6 Georgia.
#7 Texas will take on #19 Baylor

GLORY ROAD

#1 Clemson has already played Georgia Tech, Georgia, Miami and Florida but still has Florida State at home in Week 12.

#2 Wisconsin appears to have the easiest schedule left. with a road game @ (6-3) Cincinnati this week and a home gaime vs (5-3) Minnesota in Week 13 with matchups with (0-8) Purdue and (4-4) Illinois in between.

#4 Michigan will play in Columbus this year against the Buckeyes for what looks like a spot in the Big Ten Championship against the Badgers.

#5 Florida besides Georgia this week, the Gators still have (6-3) UConn who just beat Ole Miss in Week plus road games @ South Carolina and Florida State to end the year.

#6 Georgia could still make the ACC Championship if they close out their season with 4 more wins and likely sill earn a Top-4 seed despite 2 loss's.

#7 Texas once the Longhorns get past Baylor it should be smooth sailing as they face UNLV, Iowa and Rice.

#8 Miami. The Hurricanes don't face a squad with a record above .500 to close out the year but have a interesting matchup in Week 13 as they travel to Seattle to take on Coach D and the Huskies for the first time since 2000.

#10 Penn State is still in the Big Ten Championship conversation if they can pull off a road win @ Indiana in Week 11 and Pitt in Week 13.

#11 Alabama for the first time in a long time will not play Auburn to close out their season in the Iron Bowl. Instead they will face Southern Miss in Week 13. However after a Bye Week in Week 10 the Tide still have to face #18 (8-1) Ole Miss in Oxford and host Tennessee at home in Week 12.

TURNOVERS DOOM BRONCOS IN PRIMETIME MATCHUP!!

WEEK 10 RECAP

Oregon saved up 7 years of frustrations and white board banter including multiple photos of past Bronco players eating charred Duck on the sidelines after victories and let it all out today.

BSU actually opened up the game with a explosive 80 yd drive on just 2 plays as Enrique Chance hauls on a 60 yd bomb from Barksdale to give the Broncos the early (7-0) lead but a trio of INT's by Barksdale including 1 with just 38 seconds on the clock that lead to a Oregon touchdown in the final seconds would give Oregon the (28-17) lead at the half.

Boise State would hold the Ducks to a Field Goal to open up the 2nd half and a 19 yd touchdown run by Greg Stock would cut the lead to (31-24) with 4:12 to play in the 3rd Quarter but that's as close as the Broncos could get.. A failed 3rd and 4 play forced BSU to try for a 56 yd FG attempt but Nick Mateo's attempt falls just short as BSU fails to cut into the lead.

Still trailing (31-24) entering the 4th, Boise State's struggles would continue as the Broncos turn the ball over on downs 3 times leading to another pair of Duck touchdowns by RB Shakir Henry (90 ovr) as the Junior goes over 200 yds on the day.
FINAL SCORE OREGON-45 BOISE STATE-24
The victory not only ends Boise State's quest for a 2nd straight perfect season but also ends the schools home winning streak and it's national winning streak ,. well also putting the Broncos Pac-12 title hopes and playoff streak in jeopardy.

Coach Miller "
You have to give them credit they played a heck of a game.. I honestly had to look on google and I still don't know the answer I honestly can't remember the last time a single player has rushed for over 200 yds against Boise State. Our Defense has been amazing all season but they were put in a tough position tonight.. I feel for Barks.. He is a great talent and he is going to be a guy who play's on Sunday's but right now his confidence is at it's lowest in his career.. We are going to need to right the ship and get ready for next week."

UP NEXT
Boise State will look to rebound from their loss with a trip to Pullman to take Washington State. The Cougars are currently having their best season in the past 10 years with a (7-3) start to the season but are coming off a (31-17) loss at Arizona State..

RECRUITING NEWS
BSU hosted 4 players over the weekend and came away going 50% as they sign a pair of O-Lineman but miss out on 2 key Defensive targets.

5* OT Marquez Rugamba (#8 Overall/#1KY/#1 OT) was one of Boise State top targets and is viewed as a potential 4 year starter.
4* OG Zach Lefotu (#82 Overall/#3 IL/#4 OG) is a little more of a project but should provide nice depth as BSU is set to graduate 4 players from the O-LIne.

5* MLB Ethan McNitt (#20 Overall/#7 LB) has not officially signed anywhere but has locked out Boise State after moving to a Top-2 list that includes Nebraska and Penn State . The Cornhuskers currently lead but PSU is close the gap.

4* CB Tobias Crumpler (#56 Overall/#5 CA/#8 CB) has made it official picking Arizona State over BSU (#2) and Wisconsin who finishes #3.
