If you are close friends with an Arizona State Sun Devil fan, it would be appropriate to check on them at the moment. While rumors continue to swirl about Kenny Dillingham's future in Tempe, another former Sun Devil cleaned up the 2026 regular season award show.

Sam Leavitt, the same man who helped pilot the Sun Devils to their lone College Football Playoff appearance, captured the 2026 Heisman Memorial Trophy after a stellar first season—and possibly last—with the LSU Tigers.

Leavitt threw for 4,282 yards and tossed 46 touchdowns, leading the country in both categories, as he guided the Tigers to a 10-2 season and the 4th overall seed in this year's playoff.

"I just want to thank my family, my friends, and all the coaches who have helped me throughout my career," stated Leavitt at the podium, "I wouldn't be where I am today without the unwavering support I've received in my career."

Leavitt also captured the Maxwell, Walter Camp, and Davey O'Brien awards.

Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham released a statement after the win, congratulating Leavitt on the win while lauding his work ethic and commitment to excellence.

"When Sam arrived at Camp Tontozona as a wide-eyed freshman, he had that it factor. You knew as long as he kept working, he'd be great," said Dillingham in the statement.

There was room to celebrate for the ASU faithful over award weekend, as Jaren Hamilton captured the 2026 Jet Award with 878 return yards and one touchdown during the campaign.

The Arizona Sun Devils once had conference championship hopes and College Football Playoff aspirations.

Instead, they have reportedly accepted an invitation to the Liberty Bowl to conclude the 2026 season.

The Liberty Bowl will be a rematch for the Sun Devils, as they'll square off against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies defeated the Sun Devils 41-35 at Kyle Field in Week Two of the 2026 regular season.
