Stanford dominates Hawai'i in 67-20 blowout win over Rainbow Warriors
Stanford quarterback Earl Nienhuis only needed to play one drive in the second half to throw for 299 yards and three touchdowns in the 67-20 win over Hawai'i, putting the six turnover performance last week against UNLV in his rearview mirror.
The Cardinal scored on all but three drives in the game, all of them coming in late in the gamewhen the backups were in. Stanford's offense rushed for 392 yards, averaging a whopping 14.5 yards per rush with touchdowns from four different running backs.
Hawai'i George Hand did have some success, throwing for 314 yards but had two interceptions, both of them coming in the second quarter where Stanford began to pull away in the final three minutes, scoring seventeen points.

Don't know if I love allowing Hawai'i to put 20 on you, but I think I'm just hating.

The Victory Lap: Earl the Pearl gets his groove back, Anthony Masifilo's usage and some recruiting news

Despite the point differential being almost the same, Stanford has to feel better about their 67-20 win over Hawai'i than last week's sloppy win over the Rebels. It starts with quarterback Earl Nienhuis who had some impressive throws down the field and completed 75 percent of his passes, averaging 12.5 yards per completion with three touchdowns and 299 yards.
Nienhuis looked confident, in rhythm and when needed, maneuvered around the pocket to buy himself some time before finding receivers down the field.
The passing game continues to be centered around Rodney Cookus, Colt Mixon and Alfonso Bramble who caught eleven of Nienhuis' twenty four completions but there were also nine different pass catchers with at least one reception, no more than three, so if they can spread it around and pitch in, this passing offense should be able to get Stanford into the playoffs and that's all you can ask for in Nienhuis' first year as a starter.
Why not more Anthony Masifilo?
The most experienced running back in the room trails behind two true freshmen in Malik Marshall (237) and Trevon Winbush (189) as well as co-starter Rashawn Crouse (167) in terms of snaps played this season with Masifilo having played just 120 snaps this year.
Now, there is some context to this with the younger guys playing late in blowout games as well as Masifilo nursing an ankle injury against UNLV but the redshirt junior has played more than twenty snaps in just three games (Florida, LSU, Georgia) despite having the highest yards per carry on the team at 11.1 which is four full yards more than the next rusher in Marshall.
Masifilo is also fourth in carries, having half the carries of Crouse, the leading rusher, and twenty less than both Marshall and Winbush. As exciting as the new toys are, it is strange that such a productive and proven player in Masifilo, who nearly had 1,000-yards last year, isn't getting the same workload, at least, as these freshmen.
George Ogbonnaya will visit Texas A&M and Texas before making a decision
Stanford fans wishing for a stress free end of Ogbonnaya's recruitment were forced to take a bitter pill last week when Ogbonnaya told On3 Sports that he had a great time at Stanford but that he intends on visiting both Texas A&M and Texas before taking a visit.
While on the surface that seems logical, it does lend to increasing pessimism that Stanford will be able to sign Ogbonnaya. Ogbonnaya, who is from Texas, has already visited both of those schools, plenty of times over the last two years, including this summer.
There are a few ways to look at his decision to follow through on his visit. The most cynical is that he's trying to increase his NIL value and leverage by dragging this out and if this turns into an NIL bidding war, Stanford is the least likely to win. The other is that he is genuinely still undecided about where to go and wants to fully assess all programs before making a decision in which case, the last school that he visits, Texas, has the edge there.
The most optimistic view if that Ogbonnaya wants to go to Stanford but wants to make sure he's making the right decision first. Even if that is the case, will that remain after visits to Texas and Texas A&M? If he's not ready to commit now, will he be any more ready to commit in a month?

Stanford add four more to the class with Emari Cashman, Ashton Bayless, Nasir Breaston and Kenyon Stacy
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
The Stanford Cardinal entered the top-25 recruiting class ranking with commitments from four-star offensive linemen Emari Cashman and Ashton Bayless as well as a commitment from four-star safety Nasir Breaston and three-star linebacker Kenyon Stacy
Bayless is the second ranked player in the state of Kentucky and will need a few years in the weight room to be ready to play high level football, currently weighing in under 285 pounds but his frame and natural strength project him to be a potential starting caliber offensive tackle at the next level while Cashman, right outside the top-300 ranking, is a ready-made physical profile at six-foot-three and 319 pounds and will play along the interior of the offensive line in a few years once he shores up his technique.
On the defensive side of the ball, Breaston is a rangy safety whose versatility intrigues Stanford's coaching staff. Breaston has shown the ability to play all over the secondary at the high school level and has the physical tools necessary to play close to the line of scrimmage as a box safety option while also effectiveness enough in coverage to play single high or line up against a slot receiver or tight end.
