Arkansas made a quiet but meaningful move on one of its top offensive targets this week as four-star running back Diego Rivera (Dallas, Texas) elevated the Razorbacks to the top spot on his recruiting board, leapfrogging Auburn in the process.

Rivera, the nation's No. 300 overall prospect and No. 40 running back, had previously been locked in a tight battle between the SEC rivals. After another productive week of communication from the Arkansas staff, the Razorbacks now hold the inside track over Auburn, Penn State, Florida State, and TCU.

The 6-foot-1, 189-pound back is a versatile plyer who can make an impact as both a runner and a receiver, making him one of the most coveted offensive skill players still available. While Rivera remains uncommitted, Arkansas has positioned itself well as his recruitment begins to narrow toward a final group.

The move is another encouraging sign for a Razorback class that has steadily built momentum over the past several weeks.

That momentum was reinforced with a commitment of its own as Larry McGlinchey, a junior college edge rusher from Tulsa, Oklahoma, gave Arkansas a soft verbal commitment.

McGlinchey, a 6-foot-1, 212-pound edge rusher, chose the Razorbacks over Missouri and South Carolina after Arkansas established itself as his clear leader throughout the recruiting process. The three-star prospect is expected to bring immediate depth and pass-rushing ability once he arrives on campus.

While his commitment remains non-binding until signing day, securing an early verbal allows Arkansas to shift additional recruiting resources toward several remaining priority targets, including Rivera and a handful of other top prospects still considering the Razorbacks.

With one commitment in the fold and another major recruit trending their direction, Arkansas continues to gain momentum on the recruiting trail as the class begins to take shape.

Another notable development for Arkansas came on the defensive side of the ball, where the Razorbacks officially moved on from three-star cornerback Tiquan Grymes after the Texas prospect gave a soft verbal commitment to Houston.

Grymes, a 6-foot, 174-pound corner from Jefferson, Texas, had remained on Arkansas' board as one of several developmental defensive back targets. However, with Houston building a commanding lead in his recruitment, the Razorbacks opted to remove him from their list and redirect their recruiting efforts elsewhere.

While Arkansas briefly sat among Grymes' top schools, Houston never relinquished control of the recruitment, ultimately securing the early pledge ahead of the Razorbacks and SMU. With Grymes off the board, Arkansas is expected to shift those recruiting hours toward higher-priority defensive back targets still firmly in play as the staff looks to fill the class with impact talent rather than continue chasing recruits trending elsewhere.

Arkansas also crossed another name off its recruiting board this week after officially being locked out of the recruitment of Gerald Griffen, ending any realistic chance of landing the Louisiana linebacker.

The three-star SAM linebacker from Zachary, Louisiana had listed the Razorbacks among his top schools earlier in the cycle, but Arkansas was unable to generate enough momentum to remain in serious contention. Griffen's recruitment has evolved into a battle between Mississippi State, Houston, and Vanderbilt, with Mississippi State currently holding the advantage after securing the final official visit before the recruiting dead period.

Once Arkansas was locked out, the coaching staff immediately shifted its attention to other linebacker targets rather than continue investing recruiting hours in a player no longer attainable. With scholarships and weekly recruiting hours becoming increasingly valuable as the cycle progresses, trimming unreachable prospects from the board allows the Razorbacks to concentrate on recruits where they still have a legitimate opportunity to close.
