UL Monroe quarterback Aidan Armenta sidelined with broken ribs
The redshirt sophomore quarterback suffered broken ribs against Mississippi State and will be sidelined for at least a month.

MONROE, La. — UL Monroe starting quarterback Aidan Armenta broke two ribs against Mississippi State and sustained a chest contusion which will keep him out for the rest of the month, confirmed UL Monroe head coach Bryan Vincent.

Vincent said that the team is hopeful that Armenta will return in time for the conference opener against South Alabama, a week before UL Monroe's bye-week.

"Obviously, it's unfortunate that [Armenta] is going to be out," Vincent said, "You hate to see a guy get hurt, especially in the first game of the season, with all of the build-up of the off-season but we're rallying around him, he's rallying around us, around [Austin Carlisle] and trying to help the team anyway he can."

Armenta left in the second quarter and was replaced by Carlisle, the Houston transfer, who completed 11 of 13 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. Carlisle also took a hard hit but would finish the game, rushing for 29 yards on five carries.

The Warhawks play UAB this week on the road.

That was actually a promising performance against an SEC team. The second pass was a pick six and we were down 17-0 at one point with them having possession. For us to outscore them the rest of the game is a promising sign imo
