![]() 2 vs. 7October 22, 2025 || PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, PA Crosby scores twice, Penguins run it up in dominant W over Canadiens ![]() GAME SUMMARY After Sidney Crosby scored 74 seconds into the game with a wicked wrist shot that just snuck past Chris Driedger, it felt like the Penguins might be in for a good night. It turned into a great night when Rickard Rakell and Brandon Tanev both picked up their first goals of the season within the next 9 minutes. The Penguins scored early and often on the way to a 7-2 victory against the struggling Montreal Canadiens. Again, the Penguins controlled the neutral zone all night long, effectively smothering the Canadiens' ability to transition from defense to offense. The team only managed 20 shots total, and scored on two defensive lapses. The latter popped forward Taylor Raddysh on a breakaway that beat Penguins goaltender John Gibson glove side. Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki scored the other goal for Montreal, but the offense was stagnant for most of the night. They played on their heels for most of the game; exactly where Pittsburgh wanted them. Boone Jenner scored picked up his second of the season, continuing to produce on the Penguins' interesting third line that consists of him, Anthony Mantha and Brandon Tanev, who also scored. Brock Boeser picked up his third of the season on the powerplay during garbage time. The Penguins will enjoy a three day break before they travel across the country to take on the Vegas Golden Knights for their first away game of the season. ![]() 2 vs. 1October 26, 2025 || T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV Gibson backstops Pens to narrow victory over Golden Knights, lose Crosby in process ![]() GAME SUMMARY The NHL season is a long and rigorous path to the Stanley Cup. The Pittsburgh Penguins know that better than most with their recent championship. Tonight, they managed a slim 2-1 victory over a potent Vegas Golden Knights team that peppered goaltender John Gibson relentlessly. The win did not come without a price, as captain and leading scorer Sidney Crosby did not finish the game. Crosby, having assisted with the opening goal by defenseman Kris Letang earlier in the game, was dealt a devastating hit from Golden Knights forward Nicholas Hague. Linemate Bryan Rust stepped up to fight Hague right away. Crosby managed to come off the ice under his own power, but was certainly labouring to get off the surface. The Penguins' two first-period goals, with Erik Karlsson taking a rocket of a slapshot to beat Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill low blocker side proved to be enough for the team, as the loss of Crosby deflated morale and efficiency. With center Evgeni Malkin double-shifting to make up for the loss. According to head coach Mike Sullivan, Crosby will be reevaluated tomorrow morning before their tilt against the Anaheim Ducks. His status for the game is questionable. Penguins to finish road trip without Sidney Crosby

By Josh Yohe
October 27, 2025
The Pittsburgh Penguins will have to head to Anaheim for a revenge matchup against the Ducks without their captain and leading scorer as Sidney Crosby will be heading back to Pittsburgh early.
The 38-year-old was diagnosed with an upper body injury and returned back for rehabilitation work early by the team rather than staying out with the club during their road trip of the West Coast. Head Coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Crosby will be out and is currently considered day-to-day with an injury he suffered in the team's most recent win, a 2-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in which Crosby assisted the match's opening goal.
Crosby is expected to miss the team's Stanley Cup rematch in a few days when they travel to Western Canada to take on Connor McDavid and the Stanley Cup Finalist Edmonton Oilers.
Evgeni Malkin will jump to the first line between wingers Trevor Zegras and Rickard Rakell to replace Crosby while forward Blake Lizotte will jump into the lineup for the first time this season.
Winger Bryan Rust will sport the alternate captain's "A" while Crosby is out of the lineup.

![]() 3 vs. 4October 27, 2025 || Honda Center, Anaheim, CA Ducks repeat the past, Gauthier scores in last minute to steal contest ![]() GAME SUMMARY The Pittsburgh Penguins were unable to nab their first game of the season without Sidney Crosby, dropping a close decision to the Anaheim Ducks, 4-3 in a game that was reminiscent of their season opener against the very same team where they were just able to escape with time running down. Tied 3-3 after the Ducks stormed back with two quick goals after the Penguins opened the third period with three of their own, the Ducks relied on their top six forwards, getting goals from Mason McTavish and their prized off-season acquisition, Mitch Marner to tie things up midway through the period. Leading scorer Cutter Gauthier would bear down on Penguins' goaltender Joel Blomqvist and beat him top shelf in a lead the Penguins could not surmount with such little time remaining on the clock. The Penguins' offense struggled to catch much rhythm for most of the game but managed to mostly stay out of the penalty box. They played aggressive, but couldn't orchestrate many high-value chances, often slapping pucks into Ducks' goaltender Lukas Dostal's chest, giving the goaltender 32 saves on the night. The Penguins hope to get their act together in time for a Stanley Cup Finals rematch against the Edmonton Oilers in a few days. ![]() 3 vs. 4October 29, 2025 || Rogers Place, Edmonton, AB Early deficit too much to overcome in Stanley Cup rematch, Oilers prevail ![]() GAME SUMMARY One would think in a game where both superstar forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl don't manage to get on the scoreboard would be good for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it didn't end up too sunshine and rainbows for the defending Stanley Cup champions, as the Edmonton Oilers get their revenge in a 4-3 victory on home ice. The Oilers stormed out to an early lead, scoring two goals in the opening frame before the Penguins could even get their bearings. Two more goals would come in the second period on behalf of the red-hot Evander Kane, already picking up his fifth goal of the season while assistant captain and former first overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picked up his second goal on the season and his second point of the night. The Penguins would rally behind star center and assistant captain Evgeni Malkin, who would come in all alone on Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner and beat him with a slick move on the backhand to ruin his shutout chances. Later, third-line defenseman Vladislav Kolvachonok would pick up his first of the season on a one-time attempt from the point to cut the lead in half. The Penguins continued to blitz the Oilers, with winger Brock Boeser picking up his fifth of the season on the powerplay opportunity, but the offense would dry up soon after that. The Penguins will finish the opening month of October under .500 after a less than stellar debut, finishing with a record of 3-4-0. The team is expected to have captain Sidney Crosby back soon as he has joined back up with the team on their road trip. His status is questionable for their tilt November 1st tilt against the Jets in Winnipeg.
