LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE: MCQUEEN HOLDS OFF LATE RESTART FOR ROCKINGHAM WIN

LOGAN MCQUEEN III SECURES SECOND STRAIGHT TRUCK SERIES WIN AFTER A LATE- RACE RESTART CHALLENGE AT THE ROCK

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returned to the legendary Rockingham Speedway for the Black’s Tire 200 and for the second straight week, nobody could stop the No. 51 Peak Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado driven by Logan McQueen III.

After starting eighth, McQueen methodically worked his way through the field, finishing sixth in Stage 1 and taking command in Stage 2, where he snatched the lead from Layne Riggs by .253 seconds and never looked back. The young driver showed veteran-like composure across long green-flag runs, maintaining his line and keeping his tires alive on Rockingham’s famously abrasive surface.

By the closing laps, McQueen had built a comfortable two-second lead over Riggs when disaster struck as Frankie Muniz spun with three laps remaining, erasing the advantage and setting up a tense dash to the finish.

On the ensuing restart, McQueen launched perfectly, clearing Riggs and Majeski by Turn 1 and driving away to take the checkered flag for his second consecutive win.

It was a dominant follow-up to his breakthrough victory at Bristol, solidifying McQueen as one of the fastest rising names in the Truck Series.

Crew chief Alex Ward praised his driver’s maturity under pressure: “He’s cool as ice. To survive that late restart and pull away like that shows what kind of racer Logan’s becoming.”

With back-to-back wins, McQueen now sits firmly among the early-season title contenders, giving Peak Motorsports and its new sponsor, DQS Solutions and Staffing, plenty to celebrate as the season momentum builds.

SPIN AND SURGE: MCQUEEN RALLIES BACK INTO THE TOP FIVE UNDER THE LIGHTS IN TEXAS
Image
AFTER AN EARLY SPIN, LOGAN MCQUEEN III BATTLES BACK FOR A FIFTH-PLACE FINISH IN THE SPEEDYCASH.COM 250

Under the bright Texas lights, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series delivered another thrilling race in the SpeedyCash.com 250 and despite early adversity, Logan McQueen III proved once again that perseverance and precision can turn a rough night into a solid result.

Starting fifth after a strong qualifying effort, the driver of the No. 51 DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado showed early speed, finishing third in Stage 1 and sixth in Stage 2. Crew chief Alex Ward called an aggressive setup, allowing McQueen to stay in touch with front-runners Corey Heim and Ross Chastain as the track transitioned from sunset to full night.

Early in the third stage, however, contact from behind sent McQueen spinning through the frontstretch grass. The Peak Motorsports team quickly repaired minor damage, and from there, McQueen went to work, methodically slicing through the field as strategy and pace came together.

By the closing laps, McQueen’s No. 51 Chevy was just outside the top five, battling neck-and-neck with Chandler Smith and Ty Majeski.

The trio went three wide into turn three and when the checkered flag fell, McQueen crossed the line in fifth, capping a comeback that showcased the team’s growing maturity and chemistry.

Meanwhile, Ross Chastain scored the victory, holding off Corey Heim and Layne Riggs to take the win for Niece Motorsports.

“After the spin, we could’ve packed it in,” McQueen said. “But the guys never give up. We worked our way back, picked the right lanes, and found some speed late. A top five after all that is a win. I’ll take it any day.”

With the finish, McQueen remains inside the top five in series points, building momentum as the tour rolls deeper into the heart of the season.

That was a pretty large gap for the victory at Bristol. Is it feeling too easy now?

I'm getting a good amount of variance in difficulty race to race. playing with AI sliders between most of the races as well as the incident slider and my wheel settings.

MCQUEEN DOMINATES EARLY, LEARNS LATE IN KANSAS
Image
LOGAN MCQUEEN SETTLES FOR FOURTH AFTER A LATE SPLASH AND GO

Kansas Speedway served as both a breakout and a learning experience for rookie standout Logan McQueen III, as the driver of the No. 51 Carrera / Peak Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado dominated the early going before a late splash and go saw him settle for a fourth place finish.

McQueen rolled off from the outside of the front row after qualifying second to Layne Riggs and immediately showed strength on long runs. He swept both Stage 1 and Stage 2 victories, earning a maximum of 20 stage points while leading a race-high number of laps. The new Carrera-backed livery turned heads under the Kansas sun as the team looked poised for its third win of the season.

However, with fewer than ten laps remaining, the No. 51 team’s fuel window came up short. McQueen had to pit for a quick splash of fuel, handing the lead to Corey Heim, who stretched his tank to the finish.

Heim went on to claim the win, with Riggs and Rajah Caruth, who also stretched their fuel, rounding out the top three. McQueen crossed the line in fourth, capping a day that proved both promising and educational.

Despite the setback, McQueen remains upbeat as the team continues to build consistency. The No. 51 Chevrolet showed speed in every phase, and Carrera’s debut weekend was one to remember.

Logan McQueen III“We had a great truck this weekend, qualifying on the front row and winning both stages and leading laps is huge for this team. The new Carrera colors looked great out front. Unfortunately, our fuel number was just off there at the end. That’s on me to manage better next time. Still, I’m proud of how we ran and proud of the team, this is all part of the learning curve.”
