Detroit, MI -The Red Wings have announced two squad changes to the first team, sending down Nate Danielson and Marco Kasper to the Griffins while calling up John Leonard and Elmer Soderblom.

"We felt changes were needed. Leonard and Soderblom have been performing very well for the Griffins, and bringing in new energy can be what we need to turn things around going into December." GM Steve Yzerman said of the moves. "I would not expect an immediate impact; let's give these two some time to get into the squad and get used to the players with them, but I believe both will help us soon."

To go along with the changes, sources have said in practice this week, the Red Wings have been working on a new defense. Previously, pushing to aggressively attack the puck, they are now using one point man at the top to push the puck outside into trapping areas.

"We have been getting caught with too many men in attack. We want to get back, stop the puck, and force the opposition to earn a shot, instead of just giving them one.

Detroit, MI - A two-goal lead was not enough to earn a win and kill off this losing streak the Red Wings find themselves in entering December. The silver lining for Detroit is that the defense has improved. After giving up 5, 6, 7, 7 in four out of five games, they are back to keeping games close, losing three of the last four by one goal.

"We suck right now." Captain Dylan Larkin said following the defeat to the Rangers. "We forwards, we have to be better. I do not know the last time we came back from a losing position to get a win. Coaches are doing what they can, changing the tactics and even the lineup once, but it comes down to us players to get it done."

The last four games were especially brutal, with two losses coming in overtime, both were games that Detroit led going into the third period. Defensive captain Moritz Seider knows the defense has been at fault in recent games.

"I know Lark wants to score more, but if they give us a 2-0 lead, we need to hold it. The guys know that. Even a one-goal lead in the third, that needs to be a win."

The schedule is not easier in December for Detroit. 14 games between December 5 and December 31 with Dallas, Philly, Anaheim, and Boston waiting among the group.
