London — The 2026 summer transfer window has closed and the Premier League looks markedly different heading into the new season. PSG's financial firepower defined the window at the top end — Nuno Mendes departed the Parc des Princes for Manchester City in the deal of the summer at £191.5 million, with Achraf Hakimi following him out the door to Arsenal for £151.5 million. Both fees shattered previous records and sent shockwaves through European football.
Arsenal were the busiest spenders, bringing in Hakimi, Marco Carnesecchi, and Endrick from Real Madrid in a statement of intent that signals clear title ambitions. At the other end of the market, ten players arrived on free transfers — headlined by the eyebrow-raising signing of John Stones by Liverpool.

It's actually a decent start to the season. A 1-0 win here, a goalless draw there. Getting the basics right, a tight defence to make a platform from where you can perform. Needs more goals of course, but keeping it tight in the back should never be neglected.

Premier League Monthly: August Roundup

A month of the season is complete, and the top of the table is showing the usual suspects. Manchester City have been off to a roaring start with a perfect record and doing it in dominating fashion. Wins over Newcastle (3-1), Brighton (2-0), and Nottm Forest (0-2) show they are winning by attack and defense. Add in the big transfer window, and Man City look like a serious threat to challenge defending champions, Arsenal for the title.
Arsenal's only slip so far has been a 1-1 against Crystal Palace. The title holders have been allowing more goals than expected but the offense is starting to click earlier than it did last season. Liverpool has made easy work of a favorable schedule with wins over Leeds, Coventry, and Millwall. Man United, on the other hand, have been dealt Arsenal (L), Ipswich Town (W), and Leeds (L) to start their slow campaign.
The transfer window is closed, the league has hit the first international break, and soon the Carabao Cup and European games will begin. The season is officially in full force.
