With the winter reinforcements, Spurs extend their table lead back to nine as the business end of the season looms
After losing three times in the month of January, Spurs looked like the league leaders once more in February, going undefeated with wins over Forest, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in the league and squeezed out a 2-0 victory against Leicester City to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
The most definitive game of the month might have been their lone draw against Manchester City. No one has scored more goals this season than Spurs who have scored fourteen more goals than the next closest team, Newcastle. Spurs manager Kwamele Owusu went away from that attacking mindset that he brought to Tottenham two summers ago with his appointment and instead went with a side that included four fullbacks along both wings and two defensive midfielders in front of his back line with no Rodrygo, Xavi Simons or Mohammed Kudus in the starting line up.
It was an interesting decision against a fifth-place Manchester City side, albeit in good form. Whether it was tactical brilliance as a way to ensure that Spurs picked up at least a point or perhaps the early warning signs that Owusu has lost faith in his side after their January skid was a hot topic of discussion that quickly quieted down with their performance against Bournemouth and Crystal Pace.
Spurs are surging again and at the right time with ten games left in league play. They play Leicester City and Ipswich this month for their only two league games which sandwich fixtures against Cardiff City in the FA Cup and a two legged affair with Strasbourg in the Europa League.
