DECEMBER TEAM REPORT
TEAM REVIEW
Well December didn't go as well as November, UNF still managed a record above .500 going (5-3) and match their non-conference record of 9-4 from last season setting themselves up for another potential run at a 20 win season. UNF's 3 loss's didn't help them in the Mid-Major Poll as they are still ranked #22 but their tough schedule playing Top-25 ranked Syracuse and Top-10 ranked LSU did help their RPI as they are currently ranked #32.

Once one of the highest scoring teams in the nation UNF has dropped to #15 in the nation (tied with Syracuse) at 82.1 PPG. but going into A-Sun play it's #1 leaving some to wonder if the Osprey can make a run at a regular season title.

Yeah sometimes the problem is we can live and die by the 3.. Dupre and Ngounou are helping balance out the scoring.. Root and Thomas are my goto guy's the others (Thiero,Dye,Garza) are decent and can knock down a open shot but when I need some big shots to get me back in a game it's Root who I look for.

In this game in a closed legacy you can't edit ratings, or a players height/weight but you can edit what they look like and you can edit their shooting style (release) so Root and Thomas have a slight advantage because both actually came already with 2 of my favorites.

UNC CONTINUES TO RELOAD

Roy Williams isn't settling after last year National Championship Run.. Coach ROY and UNC are hard at it again landing 5* All-American 6'8 SF Bennie Hanson (#1 Overall/#1/#1 SF) and 5* AA 6'3 PG Halston McCurry (#8 Overall/#5 PG) during the early signing period. Christie was this year's Mr BB from Rockford Illinois well McCurry NC's Mr BB born and raised in Raleigh.

UNC wasn't the only team to come away with a pair of 5* AA's during the early signing period as Villanova lands 6'4 SG Dreike Fearing (#14 Overall/#4 SG) and 6'4 SG Orlando Simms (#7 Overall/#2 SG, Mr BB NY). and Michigan State added 6'2 PG Brad Gomes (#9 Overall/#6 PG) and 6'5 SF Donnie Dalgarn (#15 Overall/#3 SF Mr BB MI).

2 of the most interesting signings during the early recruiting period had to be 5* AA 6'6 SF Aaron Jahnke (Virginia Mr BB, Ranked #11 Overall/#2 SF) turning down all the big schools to sign with William Mary and 5* AA 6'4 SG Adama Didlake (#18 Overall./#6 SG, Maryland Mr BB) signing with George Washington.

So far the highest rated player who has yet to sign is 5'11 PG Bennie Hanson (#4 Overall/#3 PG) however he has scholarship offers from Michigan State, UNC and Memphis.

NORTH FLORIDA STILL CHASING!!

Coach Ryne Dezaron II entered the season with 6 scholarships available, 3 graduating Seniors including Walkon Edmund Bowen. With hopes of using at least 4 of those to secure a potential starting PG and SF next season as well as some added depth on the bench, so far R2 has struck out coming away with no signings during the early recruiting period well missing out on another key target 4* SG Erwin Bojang (#76 Overall/#23 SG) who signed with Florida State. Bojang who is from Coral Springs Florida led 3 in the Key last year in the ABL league with 17.7 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 5.3 APG 1.5 SPG and 1.2 BPG.

R2
"Erwin Bojang is the type of talent you build a program around.. He could've very well been the guy who could've lead us to multiple conference titles, multiple trips to the NCAA tournament and even a chance at making a deep run. He was a huge loss for us (Had him at 92%, when he signed with FSU)"
However Bojang isn't the only high profile/highly rated recruit Coach Dezaron is trying to bring to UNF next season. Sitting a-top his wish list is 4* PG Felix Bograkos (#96 Overall/#33 PG) from Hollywood Florida and 5* JC Transfer Elliah Wise a 6'7 PF from Honolulu Hawaii.

Bojrakos currently has UNF #4 at 68% but they are the only school offering. Miami is #1 on his list followed by FIU, FAU

Wise currently has no other scholarship offers, but currently only has UNF listed at #5 despite being the only school offering.. Washington, Texas, Texas Tech and Washignton State currently are ahead of UNF

Well Borakos and Wise are probably pipe dreams, R2 and UNF are pretty close into signing 3* PG Torry Carlson (#279 Overall/#92 PG).. Listed at 5'11 163lbs from Paterson NJ, Carlson has UNF at 71% Intersest and has zero scholarship offers from other programs.

UNF REPEATS AS TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!
"R2" knew that his team would need to not only make a run in the A-Sun tourney but repeat as tournament champs if they had any chance at a tournament invite.. Despite a 21-8 finish UNF's RPI was #58 and they were 1-2 against teams with a RPI of 1-50, 2-1 against 51-100 and 6-4 against 101-200. 15 wins against teams with a RPI over 200 doesn't exactly scream worthy of a spot in the field of 65.

As the #1 seed UNF drew (15-16) FGCU who was looking to pull off the upset win and finish their year with a .500 record.

FGCU played a solid 1st half and actually led 36-34 as SR Center Dontrell Winter tried to carry the team with 12 1st half points but Winter would get into early foul trouble in the 2nd half and finish with just 17 points. With their bigman out of the game the Eagles turned to their outside game hitting 4/12 from deep finishing the game 7/18 on the night but it wasn’t enough as UNF pulled out the 79-70 victory. The Osprey had 5 players in double digits led by Dominic Root who had 16 pts and Dramane Carter who added a double double with 10 pts and 10 reb.

UNF advanced to play Stetson in Round 2 but the Mad Hatters were no match as UNF dominates the 1st half 48-31 on their way to a 82-64 victory. Again it was a total team effort as 5 players score in double digits including Dramane Carter who had back to back double doubles with 11 pts and 10 reb and Root who hit 4/6 from 3PT to finish with 12 pts

Mercer pulled off a 86-68 win over ETSU to advance to the Championship and a rematch with UNF. Mercer and UNF only met once during the regular season and the Bears came away with the 82-81 win but the Osprey got the win when it mattered most. UNF led 46-37 at the half and held off the Bears for a 85-78 victory.

JR PG Jessie Bates had 30 pts in the loss hitting 4/6 from 3PT. UNF was led by their pair of Freshman in the post.. Center Christano Ngounou had 19 pts and 11 reb. Manny Dupre had 17 pts and 8 reb andJC Transfer T. Dye had 10 assists.

Dramane Carter added 13 points off the bench and was named tournament MVP averaging almost a double double with 12 pts and 8.8 rebounds over the 3 games.
