Two pick-sixes on the exact same route. Made me sick to my stomach. Never seen a slower release.

That's what makes it significantly worse. We really turned things around, but spotting them two touchdowns really hurt.

Mustangs to stick with Ryder Burton at QB ahead of tilt with Utah
By Veronica Downs | SMU Daily

Despite his poor outing in a key matchup against the floundering LSU Tigers that included two interceptions returned for touchdowns, SMU head coach Nico Augustine has confirmed that redshirt senior quarterback Ryder Burton will remain the starter for their Week 11 tilt against the 4-6 Utah Utes in hope of remaining in the race for the ACC conference.

"I admire Skyler [William] for his competitive spirit. I know he wants this as bad as anyone does right now," said head coach Augustine during a post-practice press scrum. "We still have a lot of belief in Ryder, and we're going to go with him against Utah. We've had very frank discussions with him that his performance needs to level up, and our team is ready to support him."

Williams has shown flashes of promise in the clean-up opportunities he's gotten this season, including almost willing the Mustangs back in their loss against the Tigers, as well as an impressive rushing touchdown against the Stanford Cardinal in which he leapt over a defender on his way into the end zone.

Williams has been adamant that he will not be transferring at the end of the season, and will remain to battle with true freshman and former five-star recruit, Alonzo Cheeseman for the empty starting job next season.

"I believe in what they're doing here," Williams commented. "I wouldn't want the team to give up to me so quickly if I was Ryder. He's earned this spot. I just need to stay prepared for the moment where I get to get in there and battle."
