Watson throws game-winner while Gordon drops potential game-winner in loss to Texans
New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore was putting on a clinic when it came to covering all-pro Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Except for two plays and all that's all that mattered.
Hopkins' third catch of the night was a big one, a 46-yarder on 4th and 15 with 1:14 left in the game to help set up Deshaun Watson's 17-yard touchdown to Darren Fells to win the game 30-25 over the New England Patriots on Sunday night.
Watson was electric in the fourth, scoring on a read option play with 1:56 to make it a one point game after the two-point conversion failed. New England almost got a first down but Julian Edelman was stopped short on the ensuing drive.
New England stopped Houston on the first three plays of the drive but then Hopkins was able to get a step on Gilmore and beat him deep on fourth down. Hopkins' first catch was an 88-yard touchdown in the second but besides that, Gilmore had kept him in check.
Brady completed passes of 32 and 13 yards on the next drive before throwing up a heave into the endzone that was knocked out of Josh Gordon's hands by Justin Reid on fourth down.
After starting the season undefeated, New England has now lost back-to-back games due to last second touchdowns by two Texas teams. They play Kansas City next with the conference's top seed, all of sudden, back into contention.
