Phoenix Suns' Land The #3 Pick In The 2037 Draft, But Does Resigning Tiny Jimenez Match Their Future Goals?

Image

It was a relief for Suns' fans tonight to learn that Phoenix will hold the #3 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. While the talent is there, injuries were the demise of the Suns last season & ultimately has pushed the team towards a rebuild. The bigger question, however, seems to be, is it in the Suns' organization' best interest to resign Tiny Jimenez, who has made it clear he's entering his final season of his pro career ahead of retirement?

"The silver lining is Tiny [Jimenez] would be the mentor to Phoenix's lottery pick." a Suns' insider told DS.net.

"It's not about the franchise to Tiny. Does he want to go out as the veteran mentor to a top 3 pick or does he want to spend his last season contending for a title in a different city? Nobody knows that answer but him."

Tiny Jimenez & the Phoenix Suns failed to agree on a contract extension last season, albeit that could be due to the fact the soon to be 17-year NBA veteran was unsure of his future.

"I owe the fans a farewell tour.. They've given me everything I could've ever wanted in life. So this season is for all of them." Tiny Jimenez told DS.net when asked about his upcoming summer.

"Obviously I love it here in Phoenix. I started my career here & won a championship here. I've raised my beautiful family here. This is always going to be considered home.."

While Tiny Jimenez is a tremendous draw for the Phoenix Suns, is it in their best interest to let him walk & give the upcoming #3 pick the keys to the team?

Only time will tell as the draft approaches & then the looming free agency period.

Might have to bring Faria back for the culture. She was written off during season 14 & we're entering season 17 so it's been a while.

Perhaps I'll do that just for you :melo2:

As Retirement Looms, Tiny Jimenez Is No Longer The Suns' Priority Heading Into The New Season.

Tiny Jimenez has played his past 7 seasons with the Phoenix Suns after signing during the 2030 offseason. Will there be an 8th & final season?

As the NBA Draft nears, the Phoenix Suns hold the #3 pick, a pick that could lead the franchise for years to come.

On the opposite side of a rebuild is the present, as the Phoenix Suns have two perennial all-stars in Tiny Jimenez & Westley Hunt.

Jimenez, technically, is considered an unrestricted free agent, however his camp has made it certain the 16-year veteran is interested in ending his career in the Purple & Orange in the Valley.

Jimenez celebrates the Suns' first NBA championship in franchise history in 2033!

But what's more important for the Sun's organization moving forward?

"I want to end my career with a 4th NBA championship." Tiny Jimenez told DS.net.

"Phoenix is home. It's where I began my career & it's where my children have grown up. The plan is to resign & compete for a chance at bringing a second trophy to this city."

While Tiny's goals certainly draw in the fanbase, the Suns' front office has to look towards the long-term. Is it worth resigning Tiny Jimenez & potentially shopping the #3 pick for another All-Star, or is it time to let #32 walk, & explore a trade for Westley Hunt ahead of draft night & start the impending rebuild before it's too late?

I know Tiny wants to finish in the Valley, but that boy needs one more chip. Send him to Boston :curtain:
