gotta say - the last two games have not been encouraging for the defense. Although I'll give Southern Miss credit, they play hard.

But so long as Raynor is playing at a Heisman level? Putting it all down on the Red Wolves

Defense has been pretty suspect, our secondary got levelled last off-season.

Southern Miss was going to be our biggest competition for the rest of our schedule. Adding Kenyon Clay was huge for them. Raynor4Heisman supersedes all, though.

Despite being ranked, more prized recruits opt for greener pastures. A-State adds WR McDuffie
By Olivia Scott | Jonesboro Newsletter

Arkansas State has officially added the first two names to their 2027 commitment board, while they continue to see higher ranked recruits commit to other teams, despite them once again running the gambit in the Sun Belt and defeating in-state burgeoning rival Arkansas earlier this season. The team has again and again had to return to the drawing board to adjust their expectations when it comes to filling out their recruiting board.

The team has officially added wide receiver Zach McDuffie, a two-star recruit out of Memphis Tennessee and two-star MIKE linebacker Denario Feaster from Del Valle, Texas as their first two commitments.

McDuffie, a 6-foot-1, 185 lbs wide receiver, is hoping to be the first of a reportedly targeted five receivers targeted by A-State to refill the cupboard that has been drained the last off-season. Former Red Wolves Nana Burris and Corey Rucker both graduated last year while Hunter Summers almost transferred last season and is expected to once again be on transfer watch after seeing his assumed #1 target role taken over by sophomore J.J. Harrell and former Notre Dame receiver Jordan Faison despite recently being named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week with his three-touchdown performance against Southern Miss.

McDuffie brings good enough speed to the Red Wolves, but his impressive short to medium route running is where he shines. On third down, he's someone who excels.

Defensively, Feaster could easily be shifted to a box safety if it wasn't for freshman Duke Golden starring in his role this season fresh out of high school. Feaster loves to collide and tackles impressively, very rarely missing his mark. Feaster was reportedly in talks with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech before settling on Jonesboro.

Notable losses for A-State include their pair of four-star tight ends, Jimmy Abel and Spencer Simons, who opt for Kansas State and Virginia Tech, respectively. The team will no doubt return to the pool for tight end recruits, with senior tight ends Tyler Fortenberry, Tyler Little, and Javeon Fricks all graduating at the end of the year.

Raynor being in the Heisman race is crazy.

Recruiting is looking a little more difficult this season. Not a lot of interest?

Yeah, I'm surprised myself. Sure, he's dominating but it's still the Sun Belt :drose:

Yeah, I think we spread ourselves too thin and shot for the moon too quickly. I'm confident the class will fill out soon.
