Top flight running back Isaiah Hood shuns A-State, focused in on Ole Miss

Maybe its the changing of the guard with former head coach Butch Jones now in the NFL and unproven, former defensive coordinator Griffin McCarley now heading the ship with enigma offensive coordinator Nico Augustine, but the recruiting class for Arkansas State is developing slower than ever. Through their bye week, they have zero commitments.

The team opted to go big-game hunting after their unanimously successful season crushing the Sun Belt conference last year on the way to a championship, targeting multiple top-ranked recruits who had expressed similar interest in scouting out what Jonesboro could offer them. So far, as A-state has stumbled out of the gate despite an impressive victory over in-state burgeoning rival Arkansas out of the SEC and a high-octane victory over Appalachian State.

They have no verbal commitments for the 2027 recruiting class as of now, while multiple top prospects, including four-star running back Isaiah Hood out of Louisville, Missouri, have expressed disinterest in going there. Hood announced a top three the other day that featured Ole Miss, Tulane, and Oregon State, opting against Arkansas State who sent a scholarship offer recently.

The team is expected to heavily pursue the remainder of their options without making too many pivots as of right now.
