A-State loads up large recruiting board, focused on more dynamic athletes

Arkansas State, now led by offensive coordinator Nico Augustine on the recruiting front, has the staff on a full-court press on the recruiting trails, attempting to land higher ranked talent with more dynamic skills in regards to their athleticism.

After an outstanding season last year where they won the Sun Belt championship and a Bowl game, as well as two huge victories to start the 2026 season, beating Memphis and UMass handily, they are attempting to land four-star recruits, including tight ends Jimmy Abel out of Iowa and Spencer Simons out of Florida. They targeted four-star quarterback James Madu as well, but he quickly expressed his disinterest in joining the Red Wolves and has opted to focus on remaining in-state, focusing on the Georgia Bulldogs.

One recruit the Red Wolves are interested in is athlete Nick Whiteheart out of Spring Hill, Tennessee. At 6-foot-4, 204 lbs, he expected to translate to a wide receiver/tight end hybrid at the college level. His impressive speed and spectacular catch ability would be a huge get for A-State.
