Ingolstadt Grab Three Big Wins Heading into Transfer Deadline Day
Engel slides in celebration after sinking Bayern with a late goal.
Ingolstadt have grabbed three crucial wins in the last week before transfer deadline day. At the beginning of the week they got a serious scare from Werder Bremen, going down 2-0 early, but Marlon Engel was able to guide the club back by scoring or assisting on four goals to grab a 4-2 lead and eventual 4-3 win at the Weserstadion. Following that, the club faced a difficult test from Ajax in their penultimate Champions League - League Phase match, but were able to stave them off in an impressive 4-1 victory. Finally, on the last day before the deadline, Ingolstadt faced Bayern Munich, the club that they have dethroned as the top club in Germany over the last 9 years. Bayern came out hot but Ingolstadt were able to fend them off and win 3-1 despite a goal from former player and academy product, Julius Schubert. The club goes into the deadline with no real business to do, but plans to publish the latest squad and a summary of transfer dealings after the window closes on January 31st.
