Indiana Fever fire Myisha Burks after a rough 8-9 start & hire Natisha Dawkins to a 1-year deal.

Myisha Burks is out as the head coach for the Indiana Fever. A roster with three potential WNBA All-Stars, including the two league's leading scorers with Shayla Marion & Autumn Jimenez, have drastically failed to live up to expectations as the team sits in last place of the Eastern Conference.

With 9 days off since their last loss to the Washington Mystics, the Fever were quick to find a new candidate to lead the team back to the Playoffs.

Enter Natisha Dawkins.

The former WNBA point guard played 3 seasons with the Seattle Storm from 2038-2040 before accepting an assistant coaching position at the University of Kentucky in 2041, the same year that Autumn Jimenez & Shari Christmas were freshman on the Wildcats. After one season, she was appointed head coach at Kentucky & remained at that spot until now.

"It's an exciting opportunity for me to be part of such a great organization in the Indiana Fever.. I can't wait to get out their & help get this team back on the right track."

Shari Christmas & Autumn Jimenez both expressed their joy in playing for their college head coach in the W.

"She's a great coach & a great leader. We hate to see coach Burks go but we just got the best coach in the nation. & honestly, I can't wait to annoy her outside of practice at her house again with Shari." Autumn said with a smile as she spoke to DS.net after today's morning shootaround.

The Fever will travel to Minnesota on July 2nd to take on the first-place Lynx on Monday.
