Going Rogue

The Georgia Tech Era II
Chapter I: Unfinished Business
It wasn't long before Jodi Rogue was enduring a flight to Georgia after taking a trip to the PDX. With his announcement that he will be returning back to Georgia Tech for his junior year, excitement and disdain was somewhat in the air. It was a four hour flight, with a couple more hours left til landing. Jodi gave up his window seat to let a crying child have his way. For the exchange of seats, a peaceful flight was a hot commodity in economy, especially on Delta. With a power nap in the car, there wasn't much resistance to staying up for him, so Jodi tuned into his phone, a red magic 9 pro, a Japanese gaming phone as Jodi was never into the Apple or Samsung name brands. He opens up his YouTube to catch a live show of, "Third Row At Autzen", and the topic of discussion was yours truly...
Jackson: Sam.
Sam: Jackson...
Jackson: Jodi has left the coop.
Sam: I've done my best to not notice that realization.
Jackson: Want to talk about it, bud?
Sam: Not really, no. Just can't wrap my head around it as a Oregon fan. We've literally witnessed one of the greatest QB runs, ever, here at Oregon. Jodi has done something that no other class act that came before him could do, and that was lead us to a national championship.
Jackson: This is true. Jodi had a impeccable season, something which will stand to test time it-self as long as the University of Oregon stands. I mean, it's disheartening to see him go, especially back to a school program that utilized him for only half the season, but as a fan of Jodi himself, I'm pretty excited for his next collegiate chapter.
Sam: Yeah, same here. I guess since he's not the only one who hasn't jumped from one school to another.
Jackson: Like JT Daniels.
Sam: Guys like Tate Martell.
Jackson: Guys like Bru McCoy, who technically never played for Texas, but showed up to spring training before transferring back to USC. So I guess this level of rarity isn't so rare, but more so of the value of the player to the team.
Sam: That's where it hurts the most. I don't know who's hurting more, Tulane getting blown out on the biggest stage of college football, or Oregon losing their QB.
Jackson: Well, at least we still have Dante Moore.
Sam: Man, I can't imagine how much he's been chomping at the bits to the job. He's looking like he'll be our guy next year, just before we lose him too.
Jackson: We can't keep everyone for so long, Sam. But you'll always have me, bud.
Whilst listening, Jodi surfed through social media, reading through some of the not-so-nice comments about his return to GT, and it's safe to say that it didn't bode over well with some Duck fans. Instead of being appreciative for the one year national championship run like some mature fans, the propaganda has been aired: "What have you done for me lately?" Nevertheless, Jodi has set his course to returning to Georgia, where it all started...
Upon landing and getting back to campus, there wasn't no "welcome back Jodi" committee, or any of that fashion to begin with. It seemed as the world has picked up and carried on while Jodi endured his sophomore year in Oregon. But a moment out the spotlight was a relief him. After getting sorted out and boarded up, It wasn't long before Jodi was rounded up by his old crew, Dina, Gabriel and Troy.
"There he is, the man of the hour", Troy announced.
"What's up y'all?" Jodi gave each of the three a warm hug after reuniting.
"We wasn't expecting you for some hours later, you got here pretty fast", Gabriel said.
"Yeah, I made my way to Portland to get a one shot flight back. Other flights outbound had to connect, which would've taken about 8 hours or so to get here. So I booked it there and caught a flight, so roughly a six hour travel."
"We're just happy you're back here safe, Jodi", Dina expressed. "Look at you! You look good!"
"I was just here two years ago, have I changed that much?" Jodi asked while giving a 360.
"I guess you haven't since you put a timeline on it", Dina rebutted.
"Ha, ha, you got jokes."
"I know someone who'll be excited to see you though."
"Yeah, I can't wait to see my baby girl. Have y'all bumped into her?"
"I seen her this morning, she left with her father. Haven't seen her since", Gabriel answered.
"You haven't been staying in touch with her?" Troy asked.
"Yeah, we talked before I boarded my flight, she didn't tell me she had plans with her old man. I guess I'll have to put that on hold til she gets back."
"Well, I'm sure she's excited to see you, just as much as I am, we definitely have a lot of catching up to do."
"Definitely", Gabriel insisted as he snickered. "I heard about that Halloween party you went to."
Jodi's head whips around in his direction, "How you know about that???"
"I stay tapped in. I keep my ears to the streets!" Gabriel shooting a smile.
"Man! Please forget whatever you heard about me."
"Nah, nah, nah! What's this? Gabe, you got something juicy on Jodi? You holding out on us? I thought we was boys?" Troy pleaded
"Hey, I met y'all through Jodi, relax!" Gabriel eluding to spilling the deets. "Besides, that's my mans, I wouldn't go around his back like that. That's for him to tell."
"For me to tell, my ass! That's a night I just want to forget about. Deleted scenes from the history of Jodi Rogue! Please and thank you!"
"It must've been some wild night if you don't want to tell us", Dina implied.
"Wild isn't the word. Let's just say, there's some weird hippies in Oregon. But forget all that. The four of us is back at it again. How about we take some of this NIL money and grab something to eat at Ruth Chris and talk over something delicious. My treat."
"What about your girl, Tiffany? You not going to wait for her?"
"As much as I want to, that bullshit snack they feed you on the plane don't do me no justice and I'm starving, borderline dying from hunger! I'll make it up to her with a date."
There was no convincing needed for the Dina, Gabriel and Troy to accept the invitation. It's not everyday you can eat at Ruth's Chris unless you got it like that to enjoy a full course with multiple heads. But Jodi felt back at home, with friends and people he can trust. For Jodi, Oregon is a special place in his heart, but it's nothing like Atlanta. And this is where the beginning of the end begins...
