Chapter III: Wicked Games Pt.1

Image

After the Ducks defeated the Oregon State Beavers, 42-7, Jodi and the boys had time off from action, as the next two weeks were bye weeks. Jodi didn't waste no time jumping back into study mode, be it film or academics, his goal was to keep his-self busy. Outside of that, the sophomore star spent majority of his time catching up, chatting it with friends back in Georgia, more often Tiffany, his main girl. Despite the long distance, the two remained intact, staying in touch, staying amorous to each other. These two had something legit if they wanted to take it that far...

"I miss you."

"I miss you too, Jodi. It's not the same without you around here, this place don't seem alive anymore."

"It can't be that bad. What about Dina and Troy? Y'all don't hang much?"

"We do", Tiffany says before releasing a sigh. "I just want to be with you right now. They got their own relationships, somebody to spent time with, I just wish you didn't leave."

"I'm sorry. I know this is tough on you, it's tough on me too. I miss you everyday and I look forward to spending the holidays with you."

"I can't wait either babe."

"Wait, hold up", Jodi backtracks as it dawned on him. "Dina got a man now?"

"Yeah!", Tiffany chuckles. "I was surprised she found someone too. I seen her a couple weeks ago walking in Ruth's Chris with a guy as I was passing through."

"Wow, that's crazy. Her little gold-digging ass didn't even tell me anything."

"Hey, be nice!", Tiffany sternly jested. "I guess she's keeping it under wraps for now until it's something serious", she presumed as she twirled the end of her hair around her free index finger.

"I guess so. Well, as long as she's happy... What about you? You seeing somebody? He making you happy?" Instantly, Tiffany began to blush as Jodi cracked a smile, in turn making her smile just a bit harder. One thing Jodi missed the most about Tiffany was her smile. Anytime he ever got to see her lips slip apart and strech from ear to ear, it did something for him.

"Hmmm.... I don't know how to answer that", she says bashfully. "There was this guy I was talking to."

"Oh yeah? Tell me about him, what's his name?", Jodi lightly interrogated.

"Why you want to know? You all in my business after you left me!", she shot back smiling.

"I'm just trying to make sure if he's good enough for you. Look, if he ain't better than me, than you doing bad for yourself, I'ma just tell you like it is. You're supposed to upgrade, not downgrade, but I get it, it's impossible to do after dealing with me", Jodi smugly bantered.

"Uh uhhh! You think you're top shelf, huh?"

"Hey, I'm just saying... I'm Jodi Rogue", he smiles.

"Uh huh, okay. We'll, this guy, he's tall, very handsome, better yet, extremely handsome. He's very athletic, got a nice smile, and he's been having my attention like crazy lately. Jodi, when I tell you he's so fine.... Mmmphf!!"

"[Tch!] What's his name? I know him?"

"I don't know... Dante Moore, or Jordan James, something like that, I don't be keeping up with names, you know", Tiffany sly-fully played.

"Alright, alright, that's enough of choosing violence today." Jodi conceded with a straight face as Tiffany giggled at teasing him. Minutes later, a knock on the open door of the study room drew Jodi's attention.

"Yo, what's up big dog? You ready?"

"Yeah, just give me a second, bro", Jodi requested before turning his attention back to Tiffany.

"Who's that calling for you?"

"Oh, that's Michael. We're about to head out for some lunch, said he was treating, so who am I to turn down good foo-, hopefully good food."

"Don't eat what survives in the forest, is what my daddy use to tell me."

"Trust me, I know. But I'm on a strict diet. Gotta lose all this body fat so I can redeem my-self in our rematch race."

Tiffany once again cheeses hard at his challenge, "good luck with that!"

"Aight babe, I'ma go, I'ma call you later."

"K babe, love you." Tiffany departs with as the call ends before. She never had an issue wearing her emotions on her sleeve, as she was quite stable in what to attach and detach from rationally. But for Jodi, she was locked in, smitten, off the deep end. Her love for Jodi vastly grew as much as the distance has grown between them. Be that as it may, Jodi still has not once expressed his love to Tiffany. There was nothing really hindering him from committing emotionally if he wanted to, as he was invested in her. But Jodi was only as strong as his mind and firm as his flesh could be. There be days where temptation lurks around the corner, especially when the women are just as beautiful as the Oregon trail...

Jodi and Michael got on their way, leaving the campus behind and making their way to 5th Street Public Market. It was a 20-minute, 1-mile walk, the weather was nice, so the scenic route was a prime choice to take.

"Man, that's tough that you didn't make the team as a walk-on. You got some pretty smooth ass handles on the court."

"Thanks. I guess there's always next season."

"True, but you never thought about going to another school where there's a chance for you to play?"

"Yeah, I did. I thought about it multiple times, but..."

"But...", Jodi hanged on, inclining for more reason.

"I just like it here. You know, the school is great, the city, the woodsy atmosphere, the girls, the food, the track and field, the open space to go biking. The pace is different from L.A.", Michael explained.

"Yeah, definitely a different pace for sure. That's the one thing that I do enjoy... Reminds me of back home."

"You said you were from Compton though, right?"

"Yeah, where I was born, but I grew up in Danville most of my life. Small ass town, no more than about fifty thousand people in population."

"Got damn, you fit right in around here, country boy", Michael joked. "Plaid shirts and Timbs, all you missing is an axe, my boy!"

Before Jodi could get a rebuttal out, he stopped themselves in their tracks after spotting a young woman walking in their path. Jodi's eyes were steadily fixated on her, watching the slight breeze blow her blonde hair out of her face, revealing her soft beauty.

"Mike, who this fine piece walking this way?", Jodi asked as he looked on. Her hips swayed, setting into every step forward as she sashayed. Her walk indicated that she wanted to be noticed, to be spoken to.

"Hey boys", the blonde woman in the Oregon shirt seductively saluted.

"Hey, what's going on, Cass?" Mike returned.

"It it isn't, "Mr. Superstar", him-self. Mmm, how you doing?", she asked Jodi, batting her eyes while she extended her limp hand to him.

"I'm good, I don't think I have any reason to complain right now with this nice eye candy in front of me."

"You don't waste no time putting a smile on a gal's heart, I see", she says blushing.

"Michael, how come you've been keeping this fine chocolate of a man to your-self? You've never properly introduced us."

"Well, because I haven't been keeping him away from anyone, but, this is Cassie. Cassie, Jodi.", Michael halfheartedly introduced.

"How do you do, big boy?"

"I do pretty damn well if you're satisfied."

"Mmh, aren't you the cheeky one", Cassie smiled at Jodi.

"If the cheeks are cheeking, I don't see why not."

"Ooh, just love a man that's bold, confident, and direct. I liked your game on the field, your prowess is uh, definitely something that translate well, if you get what I mean."

"What can I say? I'm a go-getter. I tend to "seek and destroy" when something's worthy is in my path of destruction, if you get what I mean", Jodi rebutted.

Image

"Oh yes, you'll do just fine." Cassie delightfully suggested. "The girls and I are having a party this weekend, a little get together before mid-exams, if you will. Why don't you and your friend Michael make yourselves our company."

"But the exams are two weeks away."

"We like to pre-game a little early. What do you say? Don't be shy, I promise we won't bite, unless you want us to."

Jodi took a moment to think it over. While in the midst of a season, the next game was next week in Iowa. And while Jodi mainly kept to him-self on campus, he figured it be a good opportunity to unwind a bit, loosen up and get right before next week's game and the exam in two weeks. "Alright, sure, why not? Let's exchange math and send me the deets."

"No need for that sweety, this is invitational only, you'll receive your access pass at your dorm by the end of the night."

"Alright, sounds good. I can't wait."

"See you two soon then, sexy."

Jodi gets one good once over on Cassie as she departed from the conversation, leaving with a smile, blowing a kiss in Jodi's direction. After lightening up on the heavy, Jodi scampers up to Michael, where he waited.

"Looks like y'all two hit it off."

"She invited us to a party this weekend. You down to go?"

"Yeah, sure. Any details on the function?"

"Nah, just said there's gonna be a bunch of girls there."

"I guess that's a plus", Michael figured, throwing up an eyebrow. "But you do realize who that is though, right?"

"Nah, not really. She someone I want to know?"

"More or less, more so less. That's Cassie Logan."

"Logannnnn...." Jodi hung on.

"She dated Washington's Cornerback, Ephesians Prysock. She tried swaying him to come to Oregon to be together, but he opted for Washington."

"Alright, so the homie ditched her, big deal."

"Word is, she went on this big tantrum on social media, trying to blast and smear his name in anyway possible."

"Sounds like that Moriah chick that was going in on Zion way back."

"Exactly. It was nearly one of those, but they shut her account down quickly before it got out of hand."

"Makes me wonder why she's so damn friendly now", Jodi mentioned with a bit of confusion.

"Still wanna go to that party and find out?"

".... Hell nah, but I am hungry though. Where this spot at?"...
